Tears streamed down Finnian’s face, his eyes a raw, painful red.

He clenched his jaw, a storm of emotions swirling in his eyes. It was as if he had a thousand things to say to her but couldn’t force a single word out.

Then, he abruptly stood, turned his back to her, and wiped his face before striding out of the room.

After Finnian left, Amara sat on the sofa, stunned.

He had cried in front of her. Was he really that devastated by the fact that she no longer loved him? How was that possible?

As if their hearts were connected, a slow, creeping sadness began to fill her own chest.

She pressed a hand to her heart and bit her lip hard, fighting back the burning sensation in her eyes as she returned to her bed.

Amara didn’t understand what was going on with Finnian, but she knew that now she was hurting too. She refused to cry over it, clamping down on her emotions.

She sat in the quiet room for a while before another group of visitors arrived.

To her surprise, it was her father, Larry, along with Fiona and Elowen.

Watching the three of them walk in like a happy family, a sarcastic smile touched Amara’s lips before she quickly suppressed it. “Dad, you’re here.”.

After Elowen’s last attempt on her life had been exposed, the pretense between her and Fiona had been shattered.

Larry had covered for Elowen that time, and a sliver of guilt still remained. Seeing Amara’s coldness toward Fiona now, he didn’t seem bothered.

Fiona, however, was furious. How dare this little bitch ignore her? She hadn’t even called her Mrs. Sullivan.

But she couldn’t show it. She had to maintain her image as a gentle, kind wife in front of Larry.

“Yes, we heard what happened yesterday. How are you feeling?” Larry asked, pulling a chair up to her bedside.

Amara offered a calm smile. She knew her father valued composure above all else. “It was a close call, but everything turned out okay. My friends are already looking into who, was behind it. I’m sure we’ll have answers soon p>

Larry was pleased to see her so level-headed, even after such a traumatic event. He nodded in approval.

Fiona and Elowen watched the exchange, their anger simmering.

Just then, Larry’s phone rang. It was a director from his company. He excused

himself and stepped out into the hallway to take the call.

With only the three of them left in the room, Fiona and Elowen’s venomous true natures were unleashed.
