Later, someone happened to snap a picture of Finnian meeting Amara by the roadside. Even though the photo was taken from quite a distance and it was hard to tell for sure if it was really them, people online quickly started talking:

“So Finnian called off his wedding because of Amara? Does he actually have feelings for her?”

“Oh, come on! Why would Mr. Everly be interested in Amara? She already has a child! Who would be so thrilled to become someone’s stepdad? You really think every man is like Keith?”

“If you want to gossip about Finnian running away from his own wedding, then keep it about Finnian! Why drag Amara into everything? Are you really this desperate for gossip? So ridiculous!”

There was endless speculation online. Amara saw the comments herself and couldn’t help feeling helpless. She had a nagging feeling that her life would never go back to being peaceful after today—though to be fair, it hadn’t exactly been peaceful before… She sighed inwardly and decided to go see Elysia.

Elysia had been staying in her own apartment these days. Every day, she sent Dorian Hawke a divorce agreement, but he always refused to sign. Dorian bombarded her with messages and came up with every possible excuse to see her, but Elysia didn’t reply or agree to meet him. She was truly done with him.

When Amara arrived at Elysia’s apartment and sat down on the sofa, Elysia immediately said, “Major news Finnian and Liliana aren’t getting married. The Everly family just put out an official statement. Look at this…”

Elysia was always the first to hear about anything, and as soon as the Everly family made the announcement, she knew. She handed her phone to Amara. Amara took a quick look: the Everly Group’s official social media had posted the announcement, and Mr. Kevin Everly himself had confirmed it to friends and family. It was official— no wedding.

All at once Amara remembered the

things Finnian had said when he met her recently, and an uneasy feeling stirred in her chest. Why wasnt Finnian getting married? Was he going to come looking for her now?

Seeing Amara lost in thought while staring absently out the window, Elysia nudged her shoulder: “What are you thinking?”

Amara snapped back and recounted what had happened earlier, telling Elysia about running into Finnian when she was having lunch with Keith, and what Finnian had said. Elysia was left speechless.

“Wait, so Finnian had no idea you were the one who saved him before? He thought it was Liliana?”

“Liliana is unbelievable! How can someone stoop that low, pretending about something like that? What is she made of her nerve is absolutely unbreakable….. Ugh, just knowing her is bad luck!”

Elysia was genuinely furious, launching into a passionate rant about Liliana, while Amara could only respond with a helpless, wry smile.

“This whole thing is so surreal. I always wondered… after I left that day, there were clear traces on the sheets. Finnian should have realized something happened. Why didn’t he ever try to find out who helped him? Wasn’t he the least bit curious turns out Liliana sneaked in afterwards…”

If this had happened in the past, learning the truth would have driven Amara crazy with anger. She might have outright hated Liliana. But she truly had no interest in Finnian, and her feelings towards Liliana were just annoyance Knowing the truth now felt more ironethan` anything-she couldn’t help but find it almost laughable.
