Amara’s body tensed, and she immediately struggled. “What are you doing? Let go of me…”

There were still bank tellers at the counter, so she couldn’t speak loudly. She bit back her frustration and said in a low voice, “Mr. Everly, please let go of me…”

This man was unbelievable the moment no one was watching, he started picking on her. How could he be so exasperating?

Finnian let go of Amara and said, “Sorry. I just missed you too much.”

These past few weeks, he’d been nearly driven mad by how much he missed Amara. But he hadn’t dared to seek her out, much less tell her that to her face. Every time he got close to Amara, it was under the guise of being her brother, and it was eating away at him.

He knew Amara was rejecting him right now, so he didn’t press further. Some things couldn’t be forced-they needed to change gradually, step by step.

Besides, he’d treated Amara so poorly before; it was only natural that she was keeping her distance. He ought to be patient.

He said, “Can you at least take me off your blocked list? It’s really inconvenient for me to reach you right now.”

Amara instinctively wanted to refuse, but then she remembered that just today, he’d already called Elysia when he couldn’t reach her. If she didn’t unblock him now, he’d probably just keep calling Elysia, or get a new phone number to contact her.

The one thing he absolutely wouldn’t do was leave her alone.

There was no point in dragging things out. She sighed and said, “I’ll take you off my blocked list, but don’t think this means anything else, Mr. Everly. From now on, let’s just be strangers.”

Right there in front of Finnian, she unblocked his number, then stood up and walked away.

Finnian wanted to offer to walk her home, but Amara firmly refused, so he could only stand in the doorway of the café and watch her leaving, his gaze following her until she disappeared from sight.

He realized then that he truly couldn’t let go of Amara-not because of the child she carried, but because the child had only ever been a trigger.

These last few days had made it clear: he was so in love with Amara that he couldn’t see a way out. He had to be with her.

And he firmly believed he was the only one who could make Amara happy, so he was determined to win her back.

The next morning, Finnian returned from the Everly Estate to his apartment.

Dorian was still staying there, but he’d pulled himself together over the past couple of days. Now he was completely sober, bent over the dining table writing something.

When Finnian came in and saw him, he asked, “What are you doing?”

Without looking up, Dorian replied, “I’m writing a letter to Elysia. She never replies to

my texts, so maybe she’ll answer a letter.”

Finnian was momentarily at a loss for words.

But then again, he understood-Dorian must have been desperate, so trying something different was only natural. Finnian didn’t comment further.

He took off his coat, hung it in the foyer, and went into the living room for a glass of water.

Once Dorian finished his letter, Finnian took a slow sip and recounted everything that had happened with Amara four months ago. Dorian was dumbfounded.

“So it was Amara who saved you back then? And you two weren’t even divorced yet?”

“If Liliana hadn’t butted in, you’d

have realized you were with Amara, and since you were still married you. definitely would’ve taken

responsibility for her.”

“And after that, when Amara got pregnant, the two of you probably Would’ve.j ‘ve just stayed together for the baby, and maybe gradually fallen for each other…”

“But now, things have turned out like this. Amara doesn’t want anything to do with you. Life is just so unpredictable sometimes…”

Dorian sighed.

Finnian and Amara’s story was so tangled and full of turns that even as an onlooker, Dorian felt genuinely sorry for Finnian.
