Chapter 789
Amara looked up at her.
The moment she heard Liliana say she wanted to win Finnian back, her heart gave an inexplicable flutter.
Then, she asked, “A few days ago, I received some photos of you and Finnian embracing in a hospital room. Did you send those to me?”
Those photos were still saved on Amara’s phone. She looked at them from time to time as a reminder of Finnian’s true colors, to prevent herself from falling for him again.
In truth, calling it an embrace wasn’t entirely accurate.
In the photos, Liliana was gripping Finnian’s arm, her head resting on his shoulder. He wasn’t holding her, but it looked as if he was steadying her by her arm. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t an embrace.
But what did it matter if it wasn’t a full embrace? The pose was still incredibly intimate, the kind of closeness reserved for lovers, not friends or family.
Liliana nodded freely. “Yes, I sent them. I wasn’t feeling well that day, so I texted Finn to see if he would come visit me. And he did.”
A smile bloomed on Liliana’s face.
“I thought after everything I did was exposed, Finn would despise me and wouldn’t care if I was sick.”
“But it turns out, when I’m not feeling well, one call is all it takes to bring him to my side. And he seemed really busy that day, too. He even postponed a meeting to come see me…”
If what Liliana said was true, then Finnian had been lying to her all along.
He said he wanted nothing to do with Liliana, but his actions showed he still cared for her, and cared deeply.
Liliana had clearly realized this too. She covered her mouth with her hand and giggled, her eyes filled with happiness and warmth Finn is just all talk He says he won’t forgive me but deep down, he’s still very concerned about me.”
Her smile and her words stung Amara. Her hands, hidden in her sleeves, clenched into fists.
A cold wind swept over her, and she felt a chill. She pulled the zipper of her down jacket higher, regretting not bringing a scarf and mask today.
After adjusting her jacket, she said, “Finnian certainly does care about you. I wish you the best of luck in winning him back. Then you can continue with the wedding you never finished. I wish you a lifetime of happiness.”
Liliana watched Amara intently, trying to catch any flicker of emotion on her face, but Amara’s expression remained perfectly serene as if she didn’t care about Finnian at all, Was she truly indifferent, or was she just a very good actress?
No, it wasn’t about acting. Amara was just too composed. She never seemed to
wear her emotions on her sleeve. In a way, she was a formidable woman.
Liliana’s mind raced. She remembered that Amara was supposedly interested in Keith now, who was also an exceptional man.
In that case, it was natural for Amara to have no feelings left for Finnian.
Liliana watched Amara for a
moment longer before speaking. “Ms. Sullivan, thank you for your good wishes. I will do my best to get back to Finn’s side. And I wish
and the one you love all the
your
happiness in the world, too.
