The man’s forehead was a mess of crimson blood. Given the severity of the wreck, there was no way he would have walked away unscathed.

Amara stared at the half-dead assailant, a chilling realization washing over her. If Finnian hadn’t intercepted that hit, she would be the one covered in blood, inches from death. The thought paralyzed her with fear.

Then she watched as Finnian pinned the man against the bridge railing and delivered a savage punch to his face. Then came a second, and a third…

He beat the man mercilessly. Even from a distance, where she couldn’t make out Finnian’s exact expression, the sheer violence of his movements radiated pure,

uncontrollable rage.

Intimidated by the brutality, Amara instinctively hugged herself tighter.

But logic quickly snapped her back. Finnian had just risked his life to save hers; she couldn’t just sit in the car and do nothing.

Besides, Finnian was pounding the man like an enraged lion. If someone didn’t intervene, he was going to beat him to death.

Heart racing, Amara threw her door open and sprinted out.

Thankfully, Finnian still had a shred of self-control. He stopped just short of crossing the line, tossing the barely conscious man onto the concrete.

Finnian stood there, chest heaving as he gasped for air, his bloodshot eyes glaring down at the man lying like a crumpled rag on the ground.

Amara rushed to his side, her voice frantic. “Finnian, are you okay? Are you hurt?”

Since Finnian’s car had taken the brunt of the collision, it meant he had essentially been in a severe crash himself. Anxiety gnawed at her as she visually scanned him for injuries.

Seeing actual bloodstains on his clothes made her pupils constrict in horror.

Where did that blood come from? Was it his, or did it belong to the man he just pulverized?

Finnian suddenly grabbed her hand, his gaze raking over her intensely before he demanded, “Are you hurt?”

His voice trembled with

unconcealed panic. His eyes were still red with lingering fury, yet that violent raĝe had morphed entirely into desperate concern for her.

He was genuinely terrified for her safety. Realizing this, Amara felt a sudden warmth flood her heart.

She subconsciously lowered her head and murmured, “I’m fine. Why are you here? Who is that man in the Buick, and what is going on?”

She fired off the questions in rapid succession, her mind a tangled mess of confusion.

She knew his arrival wasn’t a mere coincidence. Someone had clearly orchestrated

this hit on her, but somehow, Finnian had caught wind of it.

That must have been why he raced over here to intercept the hitman.

But with both of them driving at high speeds, Finnian had no way to pull the guy oyer. He could only stalk the car, and the second he saw it lunge for her he ruthlessly T-boned it to shield her knowing full well he take the hit himself.

“It’s a long story,” Finnian said grimly. “I’ll explain everything later. Let me call Will first.”

The wreckage was already starting

to cause a massive traffic jam on

the bridge, and bystanders were rolling down their windows to ask if, they needed the cops. Amara nodded in agreement and stayed quiet.

Finnian immediately pulled out his phone to call Will, then gently guided Amara back

to the safety of her car.
