Finnian leaned close to her ear, his voice dropping into a low, dangerous murmur. “In this society, only those with enough money can win a lawsuit. Amara, if I really fought you for legal custody, do you honestly think you could beat me?”

His voice was soft, but it echoed against her skin like the whisper of a devil.

Amara was pushed to the edge of sanity by his words. She shoved him away with sudden force, her voice trembling with fury. “Finnian, you’re despicable!”

In the past, even if he wasn’t exactly a saint, he had never been this malicious.

But now, he was blatantly threatening her, backing her into a corner. He had become crueler than she could have ever imagined.

Since the day she met Finnian Everly, she had never been this fiercely angry.

Hearing her insults didn’t seem to bother him at all. Instead, a dark smile touched the corners of his lips. “You’re right. I am despicable. And I can be much worse. Do you want to see just how far I’ll go, Amara?”

Amara gritted her teeth, using every ounce of her willpower to stop herself from slapping him across the face.

“I never thought you were capable of such low tactics,” she bit out. “You’ve really opened my eyes.’

Her harsh words struck a painful chord within him.

He had always wanted to leave a good impression on her, but it seemed she only thought worse of him with every passing day.

Not satisfied with just one jab, Amara clenched her fists. “If you want a child so badly, go find someone else to have one with. Why are you obsessing over mine? I will never give you custody, so stop dreaming!”

That was the final straw. Finnian’s jaw tightened. “Amara, I don’t give a damn about the child. I want you! From the very beginning, the only thing I’ve ever wanted was you!”

Unable to hold back any longer, he closed the distance between them and pulled her into his arms.

His arms wrapped around her like steel bands, the grip so tight it felt as though he were trying to meld her into his very bones.

Amara struggled frantically, pushing and hitting at him. “Don’t touch me! Let me go!” Her hands hammered wildly against his chest, and she even kneed him in desperation.

Amara was surprisingly strong. Driven by sheer panic, she fought with everything she had, her blows landing with real force.

But Finnian was drowning in so much emotional agony that he couldn’t even register the physical pain. His heart was bleeding too heavily to care.

“Let me go, Finnian!” she yelled.

She refused to listen to his nonsense. There was no way he actually loved her.

Even if he had some twisted affection for her, his heart clearly still belonged to Liliana Porter. She didn’t want this kind of impure, divided devotion.

To her, it was obvious he was only after the baby. He was crossing every line.

“You’re not getting this child, and I’m never getting back together with you! Let me go, don’t touch me!”

Summoning all her strength, Amara finally shoved him back. She stumbled away, panting heavily as she glared at him.

Finnian stood there, staring at her with a turbulent, predatory gaze. His eyes were dark and rimmed with red, making him look like a wild beast ready to devour its prey. A shiver genuine fear ran down her spine, and she instinctively took another two steps back.

“Stop doing this,” she told him, her voice breathless but firm. “Go live a good life with Liliana. Don’t come looking for me anymore, and stop obsessing over my child It’s pointless.”

Without giving him another glance, she turned on her heel and walked away.

The moment she got back to her apartment, the adrenaline crashed. She tried to hold it in, but the tears finally broke free.
