Chapter 849
Hearing this, the tension visibly drained from Larry’s face.
Amara clenched her fists, her thoughts racing.
Her original strategy had been to blindside him with the affair when the time was right, using it as leverage for her next move. Finding out he already knew threw a massive wrench into her plans.
After a brief pause, she asked, “Dad, if you’ve known about it this whole time, why haven’t you divorced her?”
Surely whatever affection he once had for Fiona was dead by now.
For a man like Larry, the second he found out his wife was sleeping with someone else, any lingering love would have instantly turned to ash.
“I fully intend to divorce her,” Larry said coldly. “But I’m waiting until Elowen gets married. If I drop the divorce now, the scandal will ruin Elowen’s prospects of finding a good match.”
He let out a heavy sigh before continuing. “I was originally going to leave Elowen five percent of the Sullivan Group, but I’ve reconsidered. One percent is more than enough.”
“With a one percent stake in the company, she’ll have enough dividends to live in luxury for the rest of her life, even if her husband’s family cuts her off. The shares I took from her will go directly to you.”
“As long as you terminate the pregnancy, I will sign the remaining fifty-six percent of the company entirely over to you.”
Amara was struck twice by his words, reeling from the impact.
The first shock was that Larry was actually delaying his divorce purely to protect Elowen.
It proved that, despite everything, he still cared for his younger daughter. He wanted
to ensure she married well and never had to worry about money, which explained his earlier leniency.
The second, far more massive shock, was the sheer scale of what he was offering her.
Fifty-six percent.
That was an astronomical level of wealth and absolute control. She had never dreamed he was willing to give her that much.
Seeing her stunned silence, Larry’s gaze flicked down to her stomach
“Speaking of which, we havele
discussed this recently. What is your final decision regarding the child?”
Amara snapped back to reality. She looked at him, unable to formulate an answer.
Larry pressed on. “If you get rid of the baby, the fifty-six percent is yours.”
“But if you refuse, I will only give you a ten percent stake. The rest won’t go to Fiona
or Elowen either. I will liquidate it all and donate every last cent to charity.”
Amara’s head jerked up, staring at him in sheer horror.
If she kept the baby, he was going to give the company away?
This completely obliterated her master plan.
The entire reason she had been stalling the abortion and avoiding this conversation
was because she had a trump card waiting to be played.
Her plan had been simple: if Larry threatened to give the company to Fiona and Elowen, Amara would drop the bombshell of the affair. Disgusted, Larry would cut then off completely.
With no other heirs left, he would have no choice but to leave the entire empire to Amara-even if she stubbornly kept the baby. It wa supposed to be a flawless
checkmate.
But now, he was telling her that if she didn’t comply, he’d just burn the empire to the
ground and give it to charity.
