“It wasn’t that he didn’t care at all emotionally, but it seemed to stem entirely from a sense of obligation. There was no actual love there. Liliana couldn’t take it anymore, so they broke up.”
Nora paused, taking a sip of water before continuing. “They got back together recently because of the baby. As outsiders, you might not see it, but working alongside Liliana every day, I can clearly sense Finnian’s true feelings toward her.”
“It’s no exaggeration to say that Finnian only feels a sense of responsibility toward Liliana. He doesn’t like her at all.”
“Liliana, on the other hand, is quite obsessed with him. She doesn’t just want the man himself; she’s particularly infatuated with his power and status.”
Nora fell silent for a moment before adding, “I’m not mocking girls from humble beginnings. I come from the bottom myself, and a person’s background doesn’t define them.”
“But Liliana has always viewed her origins as a mark of shame. Over the years, she has done everything in her power to climb the social ladder. She wants to be above everyone else.”
“She believes that becoming Mrs. Everly will give her ultimate glory, allowing her to trample over everyone and live a spectacular life. That’s why she’s so desperate to join the Everly family…”
Nora seemed ordinary, but she was actually a clever girl with high emotional intelligence and keen observation skills.
Having spent so much time with Liliana, she had completely seen through the woman. Since it wasn’t a secret anyway, she simply vented her frustrations.
Moreover, Nora was excellent at reading the room. Realizing the conversation was getting too deep and the rest wasn’t appropriate to share, she stopped herself.
Grabbing her folders, she stood up. “Elysia, I’m just venting to you guys. Spending so much time with Liliana almost warped my own values. I need to use the computer, so head back to my workspace.”
Ever since Elysia’s miscarriage, she had been working from home every day. Naturally, Nora stayed by her side, so Elysia had converted the guest bedroom into a temporary office for her.
Elysia waved her off. “Go ahead.”
The soundproofing in Elysia’s apartment was excellent. Once Nora closed the door,
she wouldn’t be able to hear them unless they yelled.
After Nora left, Elysia asked, “Ama, what are you going to do? Are you going to reconsider Finnian?”
Elysia knew very well that Amara had never truly forgotten Finnian. Amara’s previous refusal to be with him was primarily driven by her belief that he loved Liliana.
But now that the misunderstanding was cleared up and they knew Finnian only treated Liliana well out of gratitude, Elysia felt he wasn’t that terrible of a guy after
all.
At the very least, compared to an
irredeemable jerk like Dorian, Fingian was worth a shot After all, Jessica
had
neve never saved Dorian’s life, yet
Dorian still treated her incredibly
well.
Liliana, however, had genuinely saved Finnian’s life, making his good treatment of
her entirely understandable.
Amara bit her lip hard, a look of disappointment washing over her face.
