Chapter 886
Though he could see her sorrow, Keith was secretly overjoyed.
He had accepted that Amara was carrying Finnian’s child, but accepting it wasn’t the same as liking it.
If she went through with this, he would be ecstatic. He desperately wanted her ties with Finnian completely severed.
“Sometime in the next few days,” Amara said. “I’m already pretty far along. I need to do it as soon as possible, or the physical toll will be too severe.”
Keith nodded, just about to offer to go with her, when a knock echoed through the
room.
One, two, three. The rhythm was steady and authoritative. They both instantly knew it was Finnian, and Amara shot to her feet, her eyes locked on the door.
Seeing her reaction sent a spike of jealousy through Keith. He knew exactly who was outside.
She could identify the man just from his knock? How deeply did she have him memorized to react like that?
Even if she refused to be with him, her feelings for Finnian clearly ran deeper than she would admit.
Keith marched over and yanked the door open. Finnian stood there, holding several high-end paper bags filled with premium food.
Keith purposefully blocked the doorway, offering a sarcastic smirk. “Well, if it isn’t Mr. Everly. What brings a big-shot CEO out here in the middle of the day? Don’t you have a company to run?”
Finnian shot him a freezing glare. “I’m here to see Amara and my baby. Is that a problem?”
He hadn’t expected Keith to be the one opening the door.
A surge of irritation coursed through him, his grip on the bags tightening.
Keith scoffed. “You don’t have a baby, Mr. Everly. Ama’s baby belongs to her.”
Finnian tilted his chin up, his expression radiating arrogant dominance. “A DNA test will prove otherwise. Empty words mean nothing.”
Keith’s face tightened in anger at the remark.
Without waiting for a response, Finnian shoved his shoulder past Keith and strode right in.
He immediately saw Amara standing by the sofa. Her eyes were icy, practically radiating rejection, which made his heart sink all over again.
Ignoring the tension, he set the bags on the table. “I brought you some fresh fruit and prenatal vitamins You need to eat more and take o of yourself. You’ve gotten too thin.”
She was over four months pregnant, yet her limbs were as slender as ever. Only the
slight curve of her stomach gave away her condition.
Finnian knew gaining too much weight wasn’t ideal for a pregnancy modern medicine warned against it for the sake of the delivery but being underweight was just as dangerous. How were those incredibly delicate legs supposed to support a heavy belly in the coming months?
Amara saw the genuine concern in his eyes. It reminded her of his trending post and the possessive things he had said to her, and she
Tooked away, uncomfortable.
“I appreciate the gesture, Mr. Everly,” she said flatly. “But I don’t need any of this. Please take it back.”
