Chapter 916
Him saying something so arrogant proved her suspicions were spot on. Finnian really had secretly ordered every hospital in Wye to deny her the late-term abortion procedure.
In fact, it probably wasn’t just limited to Wye. If she tried to sneak out of the city, he would definitely find out. No matter where she ran, he would pull strings to make sure the local clinics turned her away.
He had too much power. If he was dead set on crossing swords with her, he would absolutely go to those lengths.
The realization made her tremble with rage.
She wanted to tear into him, to scream until her throat was raw, but she was so furious the words died on her tongue.
Seeing her visceral reaction, Finnian felt his own chest tighten.
His anger cooled slightly. He stepped toward her, his voice softening. “Amara, stop fighting this. I know you resent me, and I know I’ve made countless mistakes in the past, but I will make it all up to you.”
Make it up to her? With what? The photos of him embracing Liliana in a hospital room?
She found his promises downright pathetic. At the same time, a vicious wave of loathing for him surged through her.
She glared at him, unapologetic malice swirling in her eyes. In that precise moment, she utterly despised him.
If murder were legal and someone handed her a weapon, she might have just ended him right then and there.
Finnian instantly caught the sheer hatred in her stare, a sight that made him profoundly miserable.
He reached out, covering her eyes with one hand while pulling her into his arms with the other. “Don’t look at me like that,” he murmured, his voice strained.
There was an unmistakable tremor in his words. Just hearing it made it glaringly obvious how terrified he really was.
Amara shut her eyes briefly before her bubbling fury finally boiled over. Shoving him back with all her strength, she raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
A sharp, resounding crack echoed through the deadly quiet office.
His cheek burned intensely as five distinct red marks blossomed across his skin.
The force of the blow snapped his
head to the side. Yet, he couldn’t
bring
self to blame her. All ke

wanted to do was hold onto per and ensure she could never run away.
He instinctively reached for her again, but she recoiled a step back, looking at him
as if he were filthy. Absolute disgust painted her features.
“Don’t touch me! I despise you! I hate you, Finnian! You are the most selfish, repulsive man on the planet!”
Spitting the vicious words through gritted teeth, Amara spun on her heel and bolted.
Finnian stared after her retreating silhouette, his gaze freezing over.
He unconsciously reached out to pull her back, but his fingertips brushed against nothing but empty air.
Reflecting on everything that had unfolded today, he felt as if he were trapped in a nightmare.
She was so ruthless, actually scheming to terminate the pregnancy behind his back…
But he would never give up on her, nor would he surrender their child. He fully intended to keep standing in her way.
Finnian stood rooted to the spot for a long moment. His expression gradually hardened, a tempest of dark, bottomless emotions swirling in his eyes.
After briefly wrapping up his urgent tasks, he grabbed his jacket and strode out of the office.
Instead of hunting down Amara, he headed straight for the Sullivan estate. He needed to see Larry.
He had dined with the Sullivan family
on several occasions, so the
household staff recognized him
instantly. Surprised by his
unannounced visit, the staff quickly
ushered him inside and wentto notify Larry.
Larry soon emerged from his study. Finnian, who had been sitting on the couch, shot to his feet immediately and offered a respectful nod. “Mr Sullivan, I apologize for showing up unannounced. I’tike to have a word with you, if I may.”
