Chapter 918
“But she didn’t have to go through with the abortion. If she kept it, I would only give her ten percent of the shares. I wouldn’t leave the rest to Fiona Faye Sullivan or Elowen Sullivan either; I’d donate it all. I never forced her to get rid of the baby. I simply gave her two paths to choose from.”
“After thinking it over, Amara eventually chose the first path to terminate the pregnancy and claim the family’s shares. She made that choice entirely on her own.”
Finnian was stunned. He hadn’t realized there was such a complex underlying reason for her sudden decision to go through with the abortion.
Larry pressed on, “Before today, I didn’t know who the father was. She refused to tell me, and I didn’t push. I just couldn’t stomach my daughter raising an illegitimate child, so I pushed her toward the procedure.”
“But now I know the truth about the pregnancy, and I’ve already spoken with her.”
“If she’s willing to marry you, I won’t force her into the abortion, and I’ll still give her all the shares.”
“But if she refuses to marry you, she still has to go through with it. Otherwise, she gets none of the equity.”
Pausing for a second, Larry concluded, “Basically, my terms and conditions are all out in the open. I won’t force Amara to do anything; every decision is hers alone. So
if
f you plan to chase her, don’t think you can use me as a stepping stone.”
With that, Larry stood up.
He was a couple of inches shorter than Finnian, but his build was more robust and imposing, his features carrying an undeniable sternness.
When it came to presence, his aura was vastly different from Finnian’s.
Finnian commanded the room with an overpowering, domineering, and icy energy- something that struck fear into people while simultaneously radiating a lethal charisma.
Larry, however, had the weight of his age and a perpetually harsh, unyielding expression. His presence was intensely authoritarian; he simply radiated sheer intimidation.
“To be frank, I despised the way you treated her in the past,” Larry stated bluntly.
Speaking up once more, he eyed Finnian from head to toe and scoffed, his face visibly hardened with emotion.
“However,” he pivoted smoothly, “since you only felt obligation and no romantic love toward that Liliana woman, if you’re willing to treat Amar@right from now on and Care
for her for the rest of her life
won’t
stand in your way. After all You two were married before, and now you share a child.”
“But if she simply doesn’t want you, I won’t force her. Don’t expect me to try and talk her into it. I won’t. You can leave now.”
Larry was a shrewd old fox. The moment Finnian showed up, he knew exactly what the younger man was after.
Given his famously traditional
reputation, Finnian instinctively assumed he was the type to find a divorced daughter humiliating and would leap at the chance to have her remarry her ex. That was why Finnian had come begging.
But Finnian was dead wrong.
He certainly used to be that way, but now his only priority was protecting Amara’s happiness. He would never force her to reconcile. .
A shadow fell over Finnian’s expression, but he couldn’t exactly argue with the older man. Giving a curt nod, he walked out.
He never could have guessed that the order to terminate the pregnancy originally came from Larry.
If not for Larry’s ultimatum, Amara would likely have wanted to keep the baby. How was he supposed to navigate this mess now?
After pondering it for a moment, he realized his only play was targeting Amara herself.
His gaze darkened as he slid into his car parked outside the gates, driving away from the Sullivan estate.
