Chapter 923

Without hesitation, Amara and Keith headed to the kitchen together. One handled the food while the other prepped, both getting busy.

The salad only needed a quick wash and toss, so Amara finished quickly. She then tried to help Keith, but he refused, gently pushing her toward the dining table.

“Just sit here and keep me company,” Keith said. “Whipping up some spaghetti doesn’t take long. It’ll be done in a minute.”

With that, Keith went back to cooking. Soon, a soft ding signaled that the chicken wings in the air fryer were ready. Together, they set the food and silverware on the table and began eating.

After finishing the meal, Keith stayed and chatted with Amara for a while longer before leaving.

Driving away from her villa, Keith passed through a narrow alley without noticing anything amiss, keeping his eyes on the road.

Little did he know, a car was parked in the shadows of that alley. It was Finnian’s

car.

Finnian sat in the driver’s seat, his gaze locked straight ahead. As he watched Keith’s car drive off, his gaze turned somber. He waited another two minutes to ensure the coast was clear before stepping out of the vehicle.

Dusk was falling. The deep blue sky gradually bled into pitch black. The moon hung high, but with no stars in sight, the sky looked vast, empty, and exceptionally desolate.

Under the pale moonlight, Finnian slowly walked up to the gate of Amara’s courtyard and stopped.

He had a key to the gate. All he had to do was unlock it, and he could step inside. But he didn’t.

He just stood at the gate, looking up at her villa for a very, very long time.

Early the next morning, Amara headed out to the film set. The moment she stepped outside, she spotted Finnian and froze.

He stood alone at her gate, wearing the exact same suit from yesterday. His eyes were bloodshot from a lack of sleep, and a faint dark shadow stubble lined his jaw. He clearly hadn’t slept all night.

Seeing him like this, Amara was stunned.

What was going on? Did he never leave the villa yesterday, choosing to stand outside all night?

Amara stared at him in silence. Finnian stepped forward and asked in a low voice, “Where are you going? Let me drive you.”

Snapping out of her daze, Amara frowned. “Why are you here? Did you not leave yesterday?”

Finnian nodded. “I didn’t want to go home, so I spent the night in my car. I slept a little, but it wasn’t very restful.”

It was the dead of winter. Standing outside at night would have frozen a person to death. So last night after standing at the gate for two hours, he had retreated to his car and turned on the heater. Content S

He had reclined the seat, rested his head on his arms, and stared blankly at the roof of the car, thinking of Amara for a very long time.

He eventually closed his eyes to sleep, but sleeping in a car was uncomfortable. He barely dozed off, tossing and turning all night, until he stepped back outside at the crack of dawn.

Seeing that Amara didn’t reply and merely frowned at him, clearly displeased by his actions, he spoke again.
