Chapter 950
“By the way, you really need to watch your back for the next few days,” he added, turning serious.
“That attack was targeted specifically at you. Someone is actively trying to take you out.”
“Keep your head on a swivel whenever you leave the house. Do not go out alone. Honestly, maybe I should just hire you a security detail.”
Amara shook her head. “If I need muscle, I’ll hire them myself. Stop worrying about me.”
She checked the time and stood up. “I should go. I’ll be incredibly careful, I promise.”
“Your parents are definitely still hovering in the hallway. They’re terrified. Please try to be nice to them when they come back in.”
Keith didn’t argue.
He genuinely loved Edith and Nathan, but their relentless attempts to force him out of the entertainment industry over the years meant they constantly lived on the edge of an explosive argument.
Given the massive scare he’d put them through today, he fully intended to play the role of the comforting, obedient son.
He gave her a reassuring nod, silently promising to handle them, and Amara finally slipped out of the room.
As she walked out of Wye General Hospital, her mind was a whirlwind. She wasn’t just thinking about Keith; Finnian’s unexpected presence was weighing heavily on her.
She stepped into the cool air, and sure enough, Finnian’s sleek car was still idling near the entrance.
He was leaning casually against the door frame. Seeing her approach, he straightened up and closed the distance between them. “You’re done. Let me take you home.”
She was privately relieved she hadn’t stayed too long in the hospital room.
Had she lingered any longer, his simmering anxiety likely would have gotten the better of him, and he would have stormed right back in to drag her out.
Amara shook her head. “I drove myself. I’ll take my own car.”
“I saw it,” Finnian replied smoothly. “But I’m still driving you.”
Seeing her part her lips to argue, he quickly cut her off. “Someone tried to permanently disfigure you today. There is zero chance I am letting you drive alone. Deyou
drive alone. Did you conveniently forget what happened last time?”
Last time?
The memory hit her like a freight train-the terrifying night she was driving home, realizing a strange man was tailing her, completely intent on running her off the road. A cold sweat instantly broke out
across her back.
If Finnian hadn’t intercepted the attacker that night, both she and her baby would be dead.
Even now, the sheer trauma of that near-miss still gave her brutal nightmares.
“But my car…” Amara glanced back toward the parking lot.
She had driven herself here. If she left with him, what was she supposed to do with her vehicle?
Finnian already had it handled. “Will Zade can come pick it up and drive it back to your place. Get in. You are not driving yourself tonight.”
Amara finally relented. Someone had just tried to douse her in boiling water, a clear attempt to either kill her or ruin her face permanently.
Driving alone was simply too reckless. She accepted the ride, watching quietly as Finnian called Will to arrange the pickup, before slipping into the passenger seat of his car.
Settling into the luxurious leather, Amara buckled her seatbelt and stared blankly out the windshield, utterly silent.
Her mind was completely occupied. What was Keith doing right now? Was he arguing with Edith and Nathan again?
When would the intense pain finally fade? How long until he could get the scar removed?
Lost in her frantic thoughts,
Finnian’s deep voice suddenly sliced
through the silence. “Amara, I’m
personally taking over the investigation for what happened today promise you will find out exactly who put a target on your back. Just try to breathe
