Chapter 87

Nathan felt a sense of crisis as well. Sebastian had never treated Joanna this way. Usually, one call from her was all it took, no matter how busy he was. Had the recent events made him see the truth? Did he believe Natalie now?
He was furious. “How did Natalie suddenly become so formidable?”
Joanna’s eyes were filled with venom, her shoulders trembling with rage. “How should I know? Before, she would barely argue back, no matter what we said. She’d just swallow her grievances. Now, she’s gotten so aggressive.” She felt like she was dealing with a completely different person. On top of that, Marshall now knew she had tricked him and would surely be plotting revenge.
The more Joanna thought about it, the more agitated she became. She grabbed a throw pillow from the sofa and hurled it to the floor. No, she had to win Sebastian back. He had always been willing to do anything for her. The bond they shared was far stronger than anything he had with Natalie.
Seeing his daughter so distressed, Nathan felt a pang of sympathy. “Think. Do we have any dirt on Natalie? Something that could make Sebastian come back to us.”
Joanna’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Matthew! Didn’t Natalie go on a date with Matthew? She’s still married. That’s cheating!”
Nathan shook his head. “No, that’s too risky. It could backfire and make Sebastian look like the one who cheated, with you as the other woman. Everyone knows how he dotes on you; it would be easy to get you caught in the scandal. Your piano competition is coming up, and you can’t afford to tarnish your reputation. We’ll have plenty of other chances to deal with Natalie. We’ll wait for the right moment and hit her with something that will make Sebastian divorce her for good.”
Joanna bit her lip in frustration. She had never felt so defeated. Sebastian ignoring her made her anxious and scared. She still had so much to accomplish, including making all the tycoons in Yaro fall at her feet.
Nathan, enjoying a few rare days of peace, didn’t want to dwell on the issue. “Joanna, I’ll discuss this with your mother. I won’t be back for a couple of days, so just relax. Jerome will be back soon. He despises Natalie too. You can use him to deal with her.”
Joanna smirked. “Dad, once we’re done using him, let’s get rid of him for good. Everything here should belong to my brother and me.”
Nathan’s expression hardened. No
matter what, Jerome was still his
son. But all four of them
four of them were
useless; not a single one had made proud.

“Dad, how long are you going to be so soft? It’s because of your weakness that my mother suffered for so long, that I had to live as an adopted, illegitimate child! Do you Want me to live in the shadows forever?” She was determined to be the rightful heiress of the Scott family. She already had a plan.
The triennial car race was coming up soon. Jerome loved racing; he would definitely be back for it.
A wistful look crossed Joanna’s
face. There was only one man she
truly loved, but she wasn’t ready to lose Sebasuan, her ever-rellable backup.
Nathan, out of ideas, quietly slipped away, clutching the medicine in his hand. Tonight was going to be a wild one.
He drove away from the estate. Outside, Wendy was parked in her own car, following him.
Inside the private restaurant, Sebastian, Julian, and Sean had just walked in when
they saw Natalie and Luna also dining there.
