Natalie froze, then pinched herself hard on the arm. It hurt. She hadn’t misheard. Sebastian was accusing her of trying to murder Mrs. Spencer Sr. The thought had barely crossed her mind, and now it was happening. How could things be moving this quickly? Was she doomed to be ensnared in Joanna’s schemes even in this life? If so, she might as well just die again.
“Natalie, are you listening to me? I asked you, why did you try to murder the old matriarch?” Sebastian’s voice was cold, his rage palpable.
“I heard you,” Natalie said calmly. “Who told you I tried to murder her?”
“Marshall investigated his grandmother’s accident and found footage of you pushing her,” Sebastian roared back. “That’s why she fell. Natalie, can’t you go one day without scheming against someone?”
Natalie scoffed. Her eyes glinted with a cold light. She was done being silent. “Sebastian, would you die if you didn’t wrongfully accuse me for one day? Now get the hell off my phone.”
She hung up before he could respond.
At the Scott family home, Sebastian stared at his phone in disbelief. Natalie’s words had been crystal clear, and everyone in the room had heard them. They were all stunned. Was this the same Natalie they knew?
Sebastian’s mood soured. What nonsense was she spouting? Accusing him of wrongly accusing her? Marshall had video evidence. The figure in the video was undeniably Natalie.
Joanna saw her opening. “Sebastian, Dad, Mom,” she said, her voice trembling with concern, “murder isza crime. Why would Natalie do
dilike this? Do you think the
divorce has pushed her over the edge? She’s even started talking so crudely.” A triumphant glint flashed in her eyes. It had worked. This time, Natalie, you’re finished.
Nathan scoffed. “What do you mean, ‘pushed her over the edge’? Joanna, she’s just jealous of you. She goes crazy every time Sebastian shows you any affection. She’s always been like this She’s no longer my daughter. This has nothing to do with the Scott family. Joanna nodded sadly. “Of course, Dad. Natalie is being so reckless. She’s going
to drag both the Spencer and Scott families into this.” She deliberately emphasized the Spencer family’s name, and, as she expected, Sebastian’s face grew even darker.
Mrs. Scott, Wendy, shot a look at her husband. Natalie’s words had been haunting her for three months. She had secretly had two DNA tests done. Joanna was not Nathan’s daughter. But Natalie had lied to her. She was so disappointed in her daughter.
She took a deep breath. “I’ll go talk to Natalie tomorrow. I’ll convince her to turn herself in.”
Nathan’s eyes flickered with alarm. “Wendy, you’re not well. Don’t overexert yourself. Let Joanna go. They’re closer in age; they understand each other. Let Joanna talk some sense into that ungrateful girl.”
Wendy considered it. She didn’t
want to see Natalie either. The girl was trying to tear their family apart, “Alright. don’t want to see her anyway. I was going to give he some money after the divorce, to help her get on her feet, but this is too much. How could she stoop to something like this?” She was, after all, her own flesh and blood. It pained her to see her daughter in trouble. After three months of suppressed frustration, her anger finally boiled over.

“Never mind, I’ll go see that vicious woman myself tomorrow.” She couldn’t let this go. Was Natalie trying to destroy their family? She was just jealous of Joanna’s favored position.
Sebastian frowned. He and Natalie weren’t officially divorced yet. He shot a cold look at the three of them. This house felt colder than ice. Without another word, he left. He had to investigate this himself. He had wrongly accused Natalie once before. This time, he needed undeniable proof.
