Chapter 203

“Wye,” Mrs. Spencer replied. “That branch has been having problems lately, which is why he went there in the first place. Natalie, I can’t trust anyone in the Spencer family. I only trust you. Please, help me.”
Natalie’s heart ached for her. This was the curse of powerful families; without someone truly loyal by your side, you were vulnerable. Money could buy favors, but some people were two-faced, taking payment from both sides only to let the matter drop. It was a common story.
“Alright, I understand. I’ll go there myself, Mrs. Spencer.”
After hanging up, Natalie sent a message to Luna.
[Luna, remember I had you tail Marshall? Did your team get any video?]
Luna replied instantly: [I was just about to tell you Marshall’s in trouble. I’m sending you a video now.]
The video arrived moments later. As Natalie watched it, a cold fury filled her eyes. She immediately called Luna.
“Luna, get someone else to watch Joanna. You’re coming with me to Wye. We’re getting Marshall out.”
“On it.”
Natalie hung up and prepared to leave. Remembering her lunch plans, she quickly called Matthew to tell him something urgent had come up and she’d have to reschedule. He was wonderfully considerate, asking if there was anything he could do to help.
She smiled as she texted back: [Thank you! If I need anything, I won’t hesitate to ask.]
Matthew, she thought, would make a good boyfriend. He was always so caring. To succeed, one needed allies, and Matthew was shaping up to be a powerful one.
The flight to Wye was only two hours, and tickets were easy to book. After packing a small bag, Natalie headed downstairs, where Luna was already waiting with a
car.
At the same time, Sebastian
received the news and headed out with Sean to handle the situation.
The Wye bus
business was cruciato him; he wouldn’t fet anyone get away with pulling a stunt like this in one of his establishments.
At four in the afternoon, Natalie and Luna arrived in Wye. They went straight to
the police station, where they ran into Sebastian at the entrance.
Their eyes met, Sebastian’s gaze deep and intense. He instantly understood why she was there.
His brow tightened, and the oppressive aura he had cultivated over years in
power washed over her. Natalie felt an immediate pressure.
Sebastian took a step forward, his voice a low, magnetic rumble. “Here to save Marshall?”
Natalie pressed her lips together, saying nothing. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the
His eyes grew colder. “Answer me.”
She finally nodded, her chin held high. “Yes. Marshall was framed in your bar. suspect you and Joanna are behind it seeking revenge for what happened at the last banquet So whatever you have planned, aim it at me. Leave innocent people out of it.”
A flicker of something-pain, disbelief-crossed his dark eyes. So that’s what she thought of him.
“Natalie, is that really the kind of man you think I am?” he asked, his voice laced with anger.
Seeing his fury, Natalie’s smile became radiant. “Yes. You and the Scotts have always been the same breed. Have any of your past deeds been anything other than despicable and shameless?”
She took another step, closing the distance between them. “Sebastian, search your conscience. After you conspired with them to frame me after you let Joanna hurt me time and again, what right do you have to ask me that question today? You never believed me. Nothing you’ve ever done has given me a reason to trust you. We signed the divorce papers. You’re overstepping.”
With that, she swept past him and into the building. The pressure from his
presence was suffocating, and she needed to breathe.
