Natalie slipped her phone back into her bag, watching them calmly. Her heart was surprisingly still.
Perhaps she had grown numb from the pain.
Her gaze swept lightly over Sebastian before settling on Joanna, who was stamping her foot in anger. Natalie smiled brightly. “What else would I be doing? Gathering evidence. You love framing me, don’t you? I used to tolerate it because I thought of us as family.”
“But we’re not family anymore, so there’s no need to hold back. I was originally planning to leave with nothing, just the divorce papers. But you just had to send those pictures to provoke me, to show me how much Mr. Griffith loves and pampers you. Since you served up the evidence yourself, of course I’m going to use it.”

Joanna was furious. If this really went to court, her reputation as a homewrecker would be sealed.
Her movie had already started filming; she couldn’t afford any scandals right now. Scared and wronged, she looked at Sebastian.
“Sebastian, you gave me that money willingly, right?”
Sebastian looked at Natalie. “Natalie, stop making a scene. I gave that money to Joanna willingly. If you need money, I can give it to you too.”
“Taking this to court will be bad for everyone’s reputation.”
Sebastian frowned. The Griffith Group couldn’t withstand too much turmoil right now.
Natalie scoffed. “Reputation? Scene? What scene am I making? It’s not my reputation on the line, so what do I have to be afraid of? I told you, if Joanna messes with me once, I’ll pay her back a hundred times over.”
“Did you really think what happened to me in the grove tonight was just an accident?”
Natalie stared at Joanna with ice-cold eyes.

Her breathing became ragged, her emotions unstable. “Natalie, you were in danger tonight? Why didn’t you call me? I would have sent someone to help you.”
Joanna said, feigning concern.
Watching her put on this hypocritical act made Natalie want to vomit. “Joanna, stop acting. Don’t you know how disgusting you are when you’re being fake?”
With that, Natalie turned, swiped her key card, and entered her room. It was time to let Marshall do his thing.
Joanna’s pupils contracted. She tugged on Sebastian’s arm.

Joanna started to cry, her voice trembling with grievance.
Sebastian sounded rather helpless. “My marriage to Natalie isn’t something she can just walk away from When we got our license she didn’t read the agreements our marriage is a lifelong contract. My grandfather would never let me divorce her.”
Sebastian swiped his card and went into his room.
Joanna was stunned. They had a prenuptial agreement? Why would the old man
draw up a contract like that, binding two people who weren’t in love?
But that didn’t make sense. Before, Sebastian was the one who wanted a divorce, and Natalie was the one who refused.
Now Sebastian was the one refusing, using that agreement as an excuse. What was going on?
