Chapter 884

Luna knelt and retrieved Sean’s phone from under the car. The memory of the vehicle that had just sped past her filled her with a terrible premonition.

Her voice was filled with despair. “Something’s happened to Sean p>

In Luna’s mind, Sean was a responsible man, with a touch of humor in his words and actions, and his easygoing nature always put her at ease.

Luna spun around, ran to her car, and took off in pursuit of the vehicle. She wasn’t certain Sean was inside, but she had a gut feeling that he was.

An even stronger feeling told her that he was in danger.

Luna floored it, opening her laptop to check nearby surveillance cameras as she drove.

Meanwhile, Natalie and Sebastian found Susan in the innermost room of the basement, unconscious from the cold.

Her down jacket had been removed, leaving her in only a white wool sweater. She lay lifelessly on the frigid floor.

“Susan Natalie ran over and gathered Susan into her arms.

Her body was ice-cold, her face a deep purple from exposure. Her eyes were shut tight, and she was completely unresponsive.

Natalie quickly shrugged off her own down jacket to put it on Susan.

Sebastian stopped her. “Natalie, keep your coat on. I’ll give her mine p>

“No, a down jacket will warm her up faster. Please, could you call an ambulance for me? I need to get her to a hospital immediately p>

Natalie was frantic, but she tried to keep a clear head as she looked at Susan’s lifeless face.

She had never seen Susan like this.

Susan had always been so vibrant. Even when she was slightly overweight, she was optimistic.

When she was chasing after Jared, she had certainly been insecure, following him around like a lost puppy.

But when Jared made his aversion clear, she had kept her distance.

Susan was a good person. It was Jared who didn’t deserve her.

She couldn’t help but think of Jared, who was still recovering in the

hospital after his memory loss His memory loss A

his leg-and his life.

Sebastian watched as she swiftly dressed Susan in the down jacket, his brow

furrowing slightly before he quickly dialed for emergency services.

After hanging up, he tried calling Sean.

There was no answer.

Sebastian was puzzled. Why wouldn’t Sean pick up his phone?

He called three more times, but each call went unanswered.

A cold glint appeared in Sebastian’s eyes. “What is going on p>

Unable to reach Sean, he put his phone back in his pocket.

Natalie was rubbing Susan’s hands.

Her eyes were red as she rubbed them and encouraged her friend, “Susan, you

have to hold on. We’re going to the hospital soon. Just hold on, okay p>

Susan’s body was frigid, her eyelids not even twitching. Natalie didn’t know if she could hear her, but n

that moment, all she wanted was for her to pull through. fo

Natalie set her friend’s hand down and rummaged through her bag. She pulled out a small pill—a precious, life-saving medicine.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she brought the pill to Susan’s lips.

Sebastian found the pill familiar. His mind flashed back to when he was gravely ill in

bed, and Natalie would give him a similar pill.

She would whisper in his ear, “Sebastian, take this. It will keep you alive. You have to keep fighting. You have to live p>

He remembered the doctor telling him that this experimental medication, was incredibly rare, designed to stabilize a patient’s vitals on the brink of death,

Watching her give the pill to Susan without a second thought, he looked at her with profound intensity.

For those who were good to her, she would give everything she had in return.
