Seeing her daughter being taken away, Wendy’s maternal instincts kicked in, overriding any anger she felt. She ran after them, but the elevator doors closed just as she reached them.
“Natalie!” she cried out.
She bit her lip and rushed to another elevator, her heart pounding. But by the time she got to the ground floor, Natalie was gone. In a panic, she pulled out her phone, not knowing who to call.
