“I don’t want to know. Natalie, just stay away from them from now on. And be sure to
call me if you need anything.” A man like Colin had no class, and certainly no
conscience.
Natalie smiled. “Alright.”
Colin stared blankly at Natalie’s retreating figure, his eyes filled with simmering rage.
“Natalie, do you think you can drive a wedge between me and Joanna? You were the one who caused their accidents, and now you dare to frame Joanna for it?”
Colin was furious, but mostly at his own incompetence. He hadn’t been able to teach Natalie a lesson and get revenge for Joanna.
He slowly sat up from the ground, taking a deep breath to ease the pain in his body.
Just then, his phone rang. It was Joanna. A wave of disappointment washed over him; he had failed to get that plot of land for her.
“Hello? Joanna, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t get that land for you.”
His voice was heavy with disappointment and apology.
He wasn’t sure why he felt so dejected, but he felt he had let Joanna down.
Joanna laughed softly. “Colin, it’s alright. I’ll be back in three days. Could you introduce me to Mr. Woodard? He has another piece of land, and I’d like to buy that one instead. Its market value should be even better than Natalie’s plot.”
“Besides, if Natalie likes that land, just let her have it. You know how it is, ever since she came back, she’s competed with me for everything, even the man I love most. I can’t win against her, so I have to settle for second best.”
“I’ve noticed Natalie seems to have changed a lot since she left. I’m just so worried she’ll do something to betray Sebastian for money, something that would bring shame to the Scott family again. I don’t mind being embarrassed, but I’m afraid Natalie will ruin herself.”
“Next time you see her, please try to talk some sense into her. Even after a divorce, she needs to take care of herself.”
“I’m sure you know she’s been seeing a lot of men since she left.”
Joanna’s voice was laced with grievance, yet every word sounded like she was looking out for Natalie.
She knew that the more she said things like this, the more Colin would despise Natalie.
Her sorrowful tone tore at Colin’s heart. His Joanna was so gentle and kind, not like that vicious, grasping Natalie.
“Joanna, l’introduce you to Mr. Woodard when you get back. And if Natalie dares to bring shame on the Stott family, fil deal with her myself.”
Without another word, Joanna hung up.
Joanna was in her hotel room.
She angrily threw her phone, her eyes flashing with fury as she turned to Horace. “Colin is a useless fool,
even more useless than his two older brothers! He didn’t get the land back Now I have to buy the othết plot. They’re adjacent, so hope it has the same value.”
She crossed her arms and sat on the sofa, her expression cold, radiating an icy
aura.
She was puzzled. Why had Natalie suddenly bought land?
She had known for a while that Natalie was no longer under her control.
But she never expected Natalie to start playing the real estate game, much less
have fifty million to buy land.
Where did Natalie get the money?
Was it from Keith? Or Matthew? Or maybe Marshall?
She looked at Horace, a dreadful thought forming in her mind. She narrowed her eyes, a dangerous glint in them. “Horace, do you think it’s possible Natalie has been fooling us all along? That she’s actually very wealthy but has been pretending not to be?”
