Chapter 867

Chapter 867

But Nathan had nothing now.

She’d turned around and latched onto Mr. Wilson, but now Mr. Wilson was on the verge of bankruptcy. She was furious. Why did every path she took lead to a dead end?

Was fate deliberately working against her?

The more Sophia thought about it, the more wronged she felt, her eyes filling with hatred.

She understood the intricate web of interests within powerful families. She knew her place. She had nothing, and now she was getting older, her looks fading. Men only used her for amusement; who would ever genuinely care for her?

If none of this had happened, if Nathan hadn’t divorced Wendy p>

Joanna was deeply favored by Sebastian, and she would still be living a carefree, glamorous life.

No, she couldn’t lose. She had to win. She would show Wendy that she, Sophia, was not any less fortunate.

Wendy was nothing but a stray dog now.

Her phone suddenly rang, and she moved to a less crowded area to answer it.

Meanwhile, Evelyn Carrington, having failed to catch up to her mother, walked back with a dejected look on her face.

Seeing how well her mother treated Natalie, she felt a surge of anger and disappointment.

It was accompanied by a deep sense of defeat. She had truly lost her mother, and the thought brought her immense sorrow.

She didn’t see Sophia at first. Glancing to the side, she spotted her on the phone.

Evelyn smiled and started walking over, about to call out to her. But as the words reached her lips, she overheard the conversation and froze.

Sophia had received a call from Joanna.

“Mom, where are you p>

“Where else could I be? Dragged out shopping by that useless Evelyn Carrington. It’s freezing today, but instead of staying home, she just had to go out and buy things p>

“This dama little brat is so annoying.

If it wasn’t to make her dad divorce her mom and give myself an escape route would never have been sa nice to her. This deliberate brown-nosing is so demeaning p>

no

“But it’s fine. Her father and mother are divorced now. Everything that belongs to your Mr. Wilson will b mine. In a little while, I’ll figure out way to kick his two children out p>

“Mom, this was your choice, so you handle it. Because of your mess, my movie can’t be released. You have to find a way p>

Sophia frowned. Why was nothing

going smoothly? “Go find Sebastian. He’s so good to you, he’ll definitely find a way to get your movie released. Joanna, I really stressed out right now. I’ll think of something for you when I get back later. I have to go deal with that brat Evelyn Carrington first p>

Sophia hung up. Evelyn quickly turned to avoid being seen.

Tears streamed down her face. So, all this time, Sophia’s kindness had just been a scheme to drive a wedge between her parents.

And she knew it. She had known it all along but had played dumb, letting herself be manipulated to this point.

“Mom, Mom, I was wrong,” Evelyn cried, about to run out and chase after Natalie.

But Sophia saw her and shouted, “Evelyn, what are you doing? Hurry up and pick out your shoes. After this, we’ll go back and find your father p>

Evelyn wiped her tears. Fine. So the woman was doing this on purpose. Well, they would just have to see who would have the last laugh.

She turned around with a smile and looked at Sophia. “Alright, Sophia p>

Sophia was a little confused. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying p>

Evelyn quickly shook her head. “It’s nothing. I tried to chase after my mom just now, but she ignored me. It just made me a little sad, so I cried p>

Sophia’s brow furrowed in anger. That selfish woman. “She’s really heartless. How could she just abandon you like that p>
