Inside the police station, while waiting to see Marshall, a thought suddenly struck Natalie.
“Luna, a divorce agreement just needs both signatures to be valid, right? There’s no time limit, is there? Since I’m the one leaving with nothing, there are no assets to fight over. So if I get my hands on that agreement, I can just file it with the court, can’t I?”

Luna said, “What are you thinking? Both parties have to be present for the divorce to be finalized.”
A sly grin spread across Natalie’s face. “I can work around that. Once I have the agreement, I can just hire someone to act as his legal representative.”
She felt a giddy sense of relief. Why hadn’t she thought of such a simple solution before?
Luna just wanted to ask who on earth would dare to act as Sebastian’s representative.

“It’s settled then, Luna,” Natalie declared, a smile lighting up her eyes. “When we get back, I’ll find a way to get that divorce agreement.” The thought made her feel weightless.
Luna’s mouth twitched. “Ms. Sanders, I heard Sebastian offered you divorce papers countless times before. Why didn’t you sign them then?”
At the mention of this, a shadow of pain crossed Natalie’s face. She sighed. “I was too sentimental back then. I thought he was all alone, with no one but Sean who genuinely cared for him thought if stayed with him, treated him well, one day he would see the Scotts for who they really are.”
“But in his heart, Joanna was flawless. They grew up together. How could I ever compete with a first love? I overestimated myself.”

“That’s enough,” Natalie interrupted with a smile, knowing what Luna was about to say. “They’ll be coming in soon, and it would be awkward if they heard us.”
Sebastian, who had been about to enter, stopped dead in his tracks. So that was why she hadn’t divorced him before. It hadn’t been for money or status. It had been something so warm, so genuine. She had truly cared for him.
