Chapter 536
Chapter 536
And just now, an idea had sparked in her mind—a way to test Sebastian’s true stance.
It would help her decide her next move.
“What? The decision is in Marshall’s hands?” Joanna was surprised. Yves had lied to her?
That old fox, not a truthful word out of his mouth. Truly cunning.
Sebastian was also interested in the Westwood Hills land, which meant it had significant development potential.
He also wanted to compete with Sebastian for that land.
If they could secure it and develop it first, they could make a huge profit.
Joanna decided it was a good deal. She looked at Natalie and said, “Natalie, I knew we were still family. Could you please talk to Marshall about the Westwood Hills land? But I need to buy it at the lowest possible price p>
Natalie glanced at Sebastian, who was standing motionless.
His deep eyes were fixed on her, and there seemed to be a faint hint of a smile in them.
He didn’t try to stop Joanna.
Natalie raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.
Was Sebastian p>
She agreed. “Alright. I’ll go find Marshall later and ask him to sell it to you at the lowest price p>
Joanna was puzzled. Why wasn’t Natalie buying it herself? “Natalie, everyone is fighting over the Westwood Hills land. I heard you’ve started getting into real estate. Why aren’t you buying it p>
Natalie smiled. “I bought Mr. Woodard’s land for other purposes; I don’t plan on getting into real estate. Even if I had the money to buy the Westwood Hills land, I wouldn’t have the capital to develop it p>
“I’m just an orphan. Where would I get the money to compete with you all? When Yves made the offer, I just looked into who actually owned the property p>
“A friend of mine was also interested, but I don’t think he’s as sincere as you are, so I decided to help you instead p>
Joanna was desperate to succeed right now. The man she was with needed to establish himself here and seize market share. Whether she bought the land or not
didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.
That land couldn’t be developed anyway.
Once the ancient tomb was discovered, research teams would flock to the site. It would be filled with priceless artifacts of great historical value
Joanna remained cautious, but it didn’t matter if she bought it or not.
The Spencers weren’t short on cash. Donating the land later would earn them a good reputation and boost their stock price.
Sebastian had backed off, which meant he must have believed her.
Her cool gaze swept over his handsome face, which revealed nothing but indifference.
Joanna thought for a moment and said, “I’ll contact you later. I need to call my mother and discuss it first p>
Natalie smiled knowingly. “Okay. I’ll be waiting for your good news p>
Natalie turned and walked away with a smile.
Sebastian watched her leave and called out, “It’s snowing heavily. Where are you going p>
Natalie turned back to him. “Mr.
Griffith, we’re divorced. Where I go is
none of your business. You should
hurry up and comfort your dear Joanna. If you wait too long, a piece of jewelry worth a few hundred thousand might not be enough to soothe her p>
Sebastian frowned. When Joanna used to be upset, he would buy her favorite jewelry to cheer her up Yet, in his marriage to Natalie, hedradn’t even given her a wedding ring.
A pang of guilt shot through him. “Come on, I’ll take you somewhere p>
He started to reach for Natalie, but she quickly stepped back, looking at him warily. “Sebastian, don’t touch me p>
As she dodged, a sharp pain shot through her arm, and she winced.
Sebastian froze, not daring to touch her again.
“Never mind. You’re injured. Let me take you home so you can rest p>
Natalie refused. “I don’t need you to take me anywhere. I just want to walk around
by myself. You two have a nice time p>
She turned and walked away briskly, wondering if the man backing Joanna would take the bait.
