Chapter 97
Natalie leaned back in her chair, hearing the light yet pressing tone in his voice. “Mr. Spencer, you don’t need to worry about how I know. You just need to believe me.”
“Of course, you’re free not to.” It wouldn’t change anything. She had done what she could. A year from now, the Spencer family would undoubtedly face a crisis. Even if they were prepared, they wouldn’t be able to stop them; they were everywhere.
Besides, she had no intention of getting too involved with the Spencer family. In their world, only power and profit earned respect. They were being polite to her now because of her impressive display at the banquet and the medicine she had provided. If she were just an ordinary person, Marshall would have humiliated her just as he had in her past life.
“They are insidious. Be careful.” She only remembered that Marshall’s death had been brutal.
Natalie smiled. “Marshall, you might not believe this, but I had a dream. In it, you died a horrible death. Your arms and legs were broken, and your body was fed to dogs.”
“Pfft Marshall sputtered, half-amused, half-annoyed. He couldn’t believe she was telling him such a thing with a straight face. Was his fate really so gruesome? “Natalie, that’s not very nice. I don’t want to die. I’m in the prime of my life. I want to live a little longer and spend more time with my grandmother.”
Natalie recalled the horrific state of his body after his death. Even as a spirit, she had felt a sharp pain in her heart. She said nothing.
But Mrs. Spencer Sr.’s expression grew wary. Certain things were already starting to happen. Just the other day, a problem had arisen with one of their company’s projects. By the time she discovered it, an employee had suddenly resigned and disappeared. When they tried to track him down, they found all his credentials were fake. “Marshall, about this race
“Grandma, I have to go. It was just a dream. Dreams are always the opposite of reality,” Marshall insisted. He wasn’t going to give up the race for such a reason.
Mrs. Spencer Sr. frowned. As the waiter brought their food, she dropped the subject. Natalie had said it would happen a year from now. So, she didn’t need to worry for now.
“Natalie, the fish is excellent. Have some.” Mrs. Spencer Sr. personally served Natalie a piece.
Natalie smiled at the kind lady.
17.
“Thank you, Grandma. You should eat more too. Now that the toxins are out of your system you need to eat well. Don’t neglect yourself.”
Mrs. Spencer Sr. understood. She smiled happily and continued to fill Natalie’s plate.
Marshall watched with jealousy. It was as if Natalie was her real grandchild and he was the outsider. He hadn’t gotten a single piece of fish.
“Grandma, I’m your grandson, remember?” he grumbled.
Mrs. Spencer Sr. placed a shrimp in his bowl. “Oh, right. If you hadn’t said anything, I might have forgotten.”
Natalie chuckled. Mrs. Spencer Sr. clearly adored Marshall. In her past life, after his death, she had died of grief. She was shrewder than anyone, having noticed Joanna’s strange behavior early on, but she had dismissed it as youthful anties. Only after Joanna had taken over the Spencer Group did she realize her suspicions had been correct.
