Chapter 509
Sebastian’s gaze was deep, cold, with a fire of anger simmering beneath the surface.
“Natalie, do you despise me that much? I remember how you used to be. No matter how I treated you, you were always calm and collected with me. Now, it’s like you’ve become a different person.”
Hearing this, Natalie let out a bitter laugh. “So, Sebastian, I should just take your abuse without fighting back? Let you people bully me and still endure it like I used to?”
“I was good to you before because I was the one who saved your life. But I don’t want to be good to you anymore. You love Joanna, and I’m letting you be with her. How do you have the nerve to even ask such a question?”
She didn’t want to discuss this with him. They had had this conversation many times before.
Sebastian stared at her deeply. Her eyes were clear, devoid of any trace of love. Suddenly, his heart felt crushed by a giant stone.
“Mr. Griffith, I’ve already made myself very clear about the past.”
With that, Natalie stood up to go to her room.
As she walked away, Sebastian’s voice followed her, low and soft. “Natalie, I haven’t had dinner yet. My stomach hurts.”
Natalie stopped, turned, and looked at him, annoyed. “You’re a grown man, and you can’t even take care of yourself. You said you were here to take care of me, but you can’t even manage yourself. How are you supposed to look after me?”
Sebastian just looked at her quietly, a faint pain nagging at his stomach.
“Sorry, I was too busy today. I didn’t have time to eat.”
Natalie closed her eyes. She figured if he got sick, his grandmother would come looking for her.
That little bit of warmth she felt would eventually be worn away by Sebastian.
Natalie turned and headed to the kitchen, cursing herself as she went. Damn this kindness of hers.
She couldn’t even control herself.
He had just left her for dead on the highway this morning.
Now he’d followed her home and was asking for food. He had some thick skin.

“I’m making you food out of respect for Grandma. She’s old, and it pains me to see her still worrying about you afterga lifetipfe of hard work.
“I’m doing this because of my affection for her. As for you, you’ve used up all your credit with me.”
Sebastian frowned. His credit was used up.
The anger in his heart flared up again. He stared at her, his gaze filled with a powerful possessiveness he himself wasn’t aware of.
“Natalie…”
“Do you want to eat or not?” Natalie interrupted him, her tone calm.
Sebastian fell silent, quietly watching as she managed to do many things with just one hand.
He could tell she was making a simple soup that was easy on the stomach. Natalie’s kitchen had a pressure cooker for soup.
She put all the chopped ingredients into the pot and then had Sebastian plug it in.
She then opened the fridge, took out a head of cabbage, and prepared to boil it for him.
Sebastian liked plain food. Cabbage boiled in plain water, with nothing added, would make him happy.
Sebastian took the cabbage and washed it. Natalie told him to break it into smaller pieces and put it in the pot once the water boiled.
Natalie pointed to the fridge. “See if there’s anything else you want to eat.”
