Chapter 555
Horace was also stunned. Facing Joanna’s fury, he was momentarily speechless.
Joanna glared at him, the corners of her eyes red, her voice sharp. “Horace, say something! Didn’t you say you had everything arranged p>
Joanna was on the verge of a breakdown. Why were all her plans failing, one after another?
Horace looked down, filled with guilt. He faced the enraged Joanna and spoke in a low voice, “Miss, I truly did arrange everything. Is it possible that Marshall knew in advance that someone was going to report him? And that’s why he swapped out the materials and the supplier p>
“Impossible. This was done with extreme secrecy. How could he have known?” Joanna refused to believe Marshall could have known beforehand.
She had only made the arrangements last night.
Even Yves didn’t know she was making a move today. How could Marshall have known?
Horace lowered his eyes, trying hard to pinpoint where things went wrong.
But no matter how he thought about it, every step had been handled with discretion. It should have been foolproof.
That brat Marshall, an arrogant, spoiled rich kid—how had he become so difficult to deal with?
“Miss, I’ll contact the CEO of HenSen Group p>
Joanna raised a hand, stopping him.
Her eyes were cold and heavy. “Don’t do anything yet. We can’t tip our hand or bring trouble upon ourselves p>
“With the Spencer family being reported, all eyes will be on HenSen Group. Let’s wait. Yves should have his son back by now. We can ask him what happened then p>
“But Miss, we also invested in Yves’ development. Now that his project is the one in trouble, it’s possible our entire investment will go down the drain p>
They shot themselves in the foot.
The karma was swift.
Joanna froze, nearly forgetting about that.
No, this couldn’t happen.
“Then don’t give anything to Windy yet. We need to maintain our cash flow p>
At her words, Horace spoke with difficulty, “Miss, the money was wired early this morning p>
“What?” Joanna’s gaze turned sharp.
Only then did she remember. She
vel?
had been in a good mood this morning and told Horace to send Wendy the money.
She had been afraid Wendy would cause more trouble and ruin her reputation.
Secretly transferring two hundred million from the company-if Wendy decided to press charges, she could end up in prison for a long time.
After all, she wasn’t Wendy’s biological daughter. If Wendy’s company went under, that two hundred million would be discovered.
“Hmph! Just for a measly two hundred million, Wendy was pushing me that hard p>
What angered Joanna more was today’s failure.
She couldn’t find a single excuse to explain why she had failed.
Her gaze felt coldly on the computer screen After a long moment she said in a hoarse voice, “Horace, tell ** Nora and the others to begin the acquisition of Wendy’s company p>
Wendy. She would leave her with nothing.
She would make Natalie live her entire life in misery, unloved and unwanted.
Horace frowned slightly, a cold light glinting in his dark eyes. “Miss, Nora and the team will continue with the acquisition talks today. Ilgo investigate this matter with Marshall and find out what really happened p>
“Fine. Get to the bottom of it. It’ll put our minds at ease p>
Joanna waved a tired hand.
She sank onto the sofa. Usually so proud, she now looked somewhat defeated.
It seemed that ever since Natalie had woken up at her party, nothing had gone smoothly.
Before, everything she did had been effortless.
Sebastian, especially, would come flying to her side with just a crook of her finger.
That bastard Sebastian had cut off her monthly allowance.
