Chapter 1143
Seeing Joanna’s visceral pain, Wendy stood straight and offered a deep bow to the camera. “Everyone, I am so sorry for letting you see this mess and for taking up public resources. I just want to say to my daughter: everything in the past was my fault. I failed you. I broke your heart over an ungrateful snake. Whether you forgive me or not, from now on, Natalie is the only daughter I will ever love.”
In the live stream comments, the audience wasn’t buying it.
Late motherly love is completely worthless! It doesn’t erase the trauma!
Treating your biological daughter like an outcast while raising a stranger? She doesn’t deserve forgiveness!
Abandoned for over a decade, and treated like trash when she returned. Who needs this kind of mom? Late motherly love is worthless, how can it heal those deep wounds?
She’s practically a monster. This whole apology is just performative! Look at Joanna’s attitude, like mother, like daughter. I know Joanna; her mom seduced Mr. Wilson and wrecked a perfectly good family.
The pain of abandonment cuts deep. This apology is a joke! Raising a stranger over your own flesh and blood, I’d rather have no mother at all!
Late motherly love can’t erase the shadows of the past. I would never accept her back!
The comments flew by in a blur of outrage.
Wendy didn’t care. A mistake was a mistake. Doing this was her way of apologizing to Natalie. Regardless of whether she earned forgiveness, she had to do it.
Watching Wendy bow and then finally cut the feed, Joanna tipped over the edge into pure, unadulterated fury.
She grabbed a heavy glass from the table and hurled it straight at Wendy’s face.
Wendy quickly dodged, the glass shattering against the wall behind her.
She glared at Joanna. “Try that again, and I’ll have you arrested for attempted murder.”
“Your reputation is already garbage,” Wendy sneered. “Today was supposed to be your big premiere. I chose today specifically so you
could understand the agony of
losing everything.”
“Everything I ever gave you, I am taking back. Piece by piece.”
Wendy laughed, a harsh, libele
sound. She was going to strip Joanna down to nothing. She was going to send her right back to the gutter where she belonged.
Joanna trembled with rage, her bloodshot eyes resembling a cornered beast. “You ruined me. I’m going to end your life.”
“And after you, I’ll end Natalie. If you had just laid low a little longer, I might have spared you both. But you just had to push me.”
She screamed until her throat was raw, wishing she could carve Wendy into pieces. She was entirely driven by blinding rage.
Wendy wasn’t intimidated in the slightest. “Natalie isn’t weak, and neither am I. Bring it on.”
Joanna flinched, staring at Wendy in shock as the realization finally hit her. “You did this on purpose. Every single word was a trap.”
Seeing that Joanna had only just caught on, Wendy smiled. It was too late.
“That’s right,” Wendy admitted. “On New Year’s Eve, I told your mother the truth. th. made her suffer by
destroying the things she cared about most. When you called me, I knew you had found out. With
it with your temper, I knew you’d come looking for a fight.”
“It’s human nature. Blind rage strips away logic. You were so arrogant, so confident
that I was beneath you, that you answered every question I threw at you.”
“I didn’t even have to push that hard. You willingly confessed all your disgusting crimes right to your own fans.”
“You made me lose my daughter, so I made you lose everything. Tell me, Joanna, did I do something wrong?”
