Chapter 1146
She knew her acting career was a smoldering crater. It was time to lay all her cards on the table with Zachary. Thankfully, she had prepared for this exact moment.
Sure enough, the second she rolled into her office, she was met with Zachary’s murderous glare.
His eyes were ice cold. He had thought he was signing a diamond in the rough, but she turned out to be absolute poison.
What was he supposed to do now?
Production for her new TV series was supposed to start in days.
Right at the critical moment, she had been outed in a massive scandal and boycotted by the entire internet.
“Joanna, look at the mess you’ve made. We just signed the contract. You haven’t even shot a single scene, and you’ve blown up the internet. How am I supposed to salvage this? You’re paying the breach of contract penalty in full.”
The atmosphere in the office was suffocating.
Joanna, already swimming in a toxic mix of rage and despair, simply shot Zachary a mocking smirk.
“Zachary, I know I’m done for, so I won’t sugarcoat anything. You’re no saint yourself. A lot of actresses signed under you have mysteriously vanished. And let’s not forget the kids. Where did they all go? I’ve been doing my homework lately. If you think I’m paying you a single dime, you’re out of your mind.”
Zachary stared at her twisted expression, a flash of pure shock crossing his eyes. How the hell did she know about that?
How could she possibly know?
He lunged forward, his sophisticated facade instantly dissolving to reveal the monster beneath. He glared at her with pitch-black intensity.
Smack!
Zachary had never been a good man. The second the gloves came off, his true nature was on full display.
The slap left Joanna dizzy, her ears ringing.
Horace bolted across the room, planting a vicious kick into Zachary’s chest that sent him crashing to the floor.
Zachary hit the ground but recovered quickly. He looked up at Horace, a cold, detached smile spreading across his face.
“You’re dead, Joanna. And the garbage you just spewed is pure fiction. You keep running your mouth, and I’ll make sure you wake up missing a kidney.”
Joanna laughed, a dark, freezing sound. The murderous intent in her beautiful eyes made her look far more demonic than Zachary.
“Do you really think you can take me
down? Even if I’m finished in
Hollywood, I still have massive leverage in the business world. You might be a top-tier agent, but men in yeur position are the easiest to drag off their pedestals.”
“I didn’t come looking for you. You came to my territory. Since you’re here, I make sure every single one of your dirty little secrets sees the light of day.”
Zachary fell silent.
“Heh,” Her laughter echoed like a broadcast from hell, sending a shiver down his spine.
Zachary was a ruthless man, but even he was momentarily unsettled by the sheer venom in her voice.
Joanna noticed the flicker of fear in his eyes. When dealing with predators, you just had to be the bigger monster.
“I already called the cops on you, Zachary. The second you called me, I knew exactly what you were plotting. You wanted to bleed me dry with penalty fees? Fine. I’ll just tak your entire company instead.
She had planned this years in advance.
She had gathered an arsenal of blackmail on him and prepared for every contingency.
Zachary’s pupils dilated in sheer disbelief. “How did you find out about all of this?”
He was terrified. No one was supposed to know his secrets.
The evidence was locked away right in his own office.
His private safe held the financial records and proof of his organ trafficking ring.
Seeing the panic in his eyes, Joanna beamed, tilting her head with a sickly sweet smile. “Why don’t you take a guess, Zachary?”
