Chapter 1103
Joanna stared at her paralyzed legs, a suffocating wave of despair crashing over her. “What good is a brother like that? He’s a complete loser. You’re the only one who treats him like gold.”
“To you, I’m just a walking ATM. I’ll never matter as much as your precious son.” Joanna knew the truth. Her mother had always favored the boy.
If she were the one in trouble, her mother wouldn’t move heaven and earth to save her.
Sophia froze. It was true she favored her son, but right now, he was a death sentence.
Her daughter was her only lifeline.
If the roles were reversed, her son would never spend thirty million to save her.
She finally realized Joanna was her only way out.
“Joanna, how could you say that?” Sophia sobbed. “I truly love you. Haven’t you felt that all these years?”
The bulky man, growing tired of the emotional manipulation, decided to speed things up. “Enough crying. When is the cash getting here? You have thirty minutes. If the money isn’t here, we’re kicking you out of the house and dragging your daughter to Vegas to work off the debt.”
“Your daughter is worth a hell of a lot more than you anyway. I did my homework before I came. She’s a famous star and a top designer. If she ends up in Vegas, her life is completely over.”
The man yelled, hoping to scare some sense into them.
He specialized in intimidation, pushing people until they broke. He never resorted to actual violence, relying entirely on his massive, terrifying physique to get the job done. No other industry would hire him because of how intimidating he looked, so he leaned into it.
When Joanna heard the man’s threats, she snapped. “Mom, where are you?”
“I’m at home, Joanna. They broke in to demand the money. You have to save me and your brother swear, this is the last time. will never bother you again, I promise
“Tell your daughter,” the man sneered, if she doesn’t send the cash, we’re grabbing her tonight and shipping her off. Once a woman goes to Vegas, she doesn’t leave until the debt is paid.”
“You have thirty minutes. Thirty minutes, and we come for her. Make a decision, fast.”
He glared at Sophia with a somber gaze.
Terrified, Sophia stumbled backward, eyeing him warily.
The man laughed mockingly. “What’s the point of being scared now? If you had controlled your son, you wouldn’t be in this mess.”
“If you don’t have the cash, stay out of the casino. Blame your useless kid.”
He stepped closer, radiating menace.
Sophia broke down completely. She knew her daughter would send the money now.
Joanna cared about her reputation more than anything else.
On the other end of the line, Joanna was crying tears of pure hatred.
Why did this always happen?
Everyone took turns stepping on her. Even some low-life casino thugs could threaten her.
She used to be the beloved darling, pampered and protected. Now, she was nothing more than an easy target for anyone to exploit.
She took a deep breath, staring out the hospital window, and made her choice. “Mom, I’ll have Horace send aillion over. You need to
the thirty million over.
sell the villa right away I’ll set you up in a small apartment. Since you’re on your own now, I need the cash from the house. It’s urgent.”
