Chapter 1158
Natalie remained silent.
As if she wanted to see her either.
“The feeling is mutual, Joanna. I have zero desire to look at you. If you hate it so much, you can always gouge your own eyes out.”
Joanna’s eyes flared with rage. “You… you’re shameless! Just because your legs are ruined, you had to make sure mine were too. You hired someone to break my legs on New Year’s Eve. You’re completely psychotic.”
Natalie rolled her eyes, raising an eyebrow at Joanna’s twisted expression. A faint smirk played in her striking eyes. “Do you actually have proof, or are you just running your mouth?”
“Who else could it possibly be?!” Joanna screamed, losing her composure.
“Tsk. You’ve pissed off half the city. Plenty of people want you dead. Like the Wilson family, for example.”
“I heard Mr. Wilson was discharged from the hospital. A guy with his underworld background isn’t going to let you screw him over in his old age without dragging you straight to hell with him.”
She had just found out Mr. Wilson was released three days after the New Year. He was not the type of man to swallow an insult like that.
Joanna narrowed her eyes dangerously. That old bastard was already out? Did he recover that fast?
At that exact moment, Horace received a text. He went pale and leaned down to whisper in Joanna’s ear. “Bad news. Miss Price is dead.”
Miss Price was the woman who had intentionally infected Mr. Wilson. He had abused her, and she had taken her revenge.
Now she was dead, and Natalie had just announced Mr. Wilson was out of the hospital.
Joanna’s stomach dropped. She snapped her gaze to Natalie. “It was you? You helped him?”
Natalie waved her hand
dismissively. I literally just told you to bring proof before you start throwing accusations around. You ad thisan the past, and you’re still doing it now. Can’t you come up with a new way to annoy me? I’m so bored of this routine.”
“Honestly, I’ve been dying to tell you the real reason I never destroyed you back then. It was because…”
Natalie shifted her gaze to Maxwell,
forcing a look of profound sorrow. “I only let you slide because I was trying to cure your blindness, Sebastian field on until I gave you the very last dose of the cure, and only then did I divorce you. How can you treat me like this after everything I sacrificed for you?”
Maxwell froze.
“You did that willingly,” he spat. “I never asked you to do a damn thing.”
“Great! Then give me my eyes back. I cured your blindness, and I healed your legs.” Natalie flashed a wicked, agonizing smile. She had spent countless sleepless nights hating+ this man.
She had always believed someone with Sebastian’s stoic personality would never stoop to something so vile.
Yet he had. He was the one who had shattered her.
Maxwell thought back to that year when Sebastian was confined to a wheelchair, completely blind. It had been an era of absolute despair.
If Maxwell had lost his sight and the use of his legs, he wouldn’t have been able to handle it. He would have found a way to end it all.
The thought of living in absolute darkness, needing someone to help him eat and use the bathroom, made his skin crawl.
He looked at Natalie with utter contempt. “You chose to do it. So you can willingly swallow the consequences.”
