Chapter 811
Madeline:
“She’s in the guest house on the other side of the garden,” I said to her as I headed toward the basement.
I was wearing black pants, a white shirt, and a black blazer for the office.
I had slipped my keys into my pants pocket.
Livia stood beside me, carrying her own bag and the one she had picked up for me from the couch.
“Is she bothering you?” Livia questioned.
I turned my head toward her and gawked at her.
She looked at me and immediately tucked her hair behind her ear.
“What is it?” she asked, kind of shying away.
“You know, in a very twisted way, you remind me of my younger self, even though we’re the same age. That’s how innocent and naive I used to look before everything happened,” I commented, watching her narrow her eyes slightly as if she were trying to figure out whether it was a compliment.
I opened the basement door and walked downstairs.
My heels clicked against each step until I finally reached the floor.
My fists automatically clenched the minute she came into view.
Tied by her ankles and sitting in the corner of the basement was Kaylee.
She slowly lifted her head and looked at me.
It had been days since she had taken care of herself.
Her hair was oily, and dirty. Her face looked rough, with skin peeling in places.
Her lips were dry too, and they would probably bleed if she stretched them.
Her nails were all chipped, probably from trying to get the shackles off her ankles. Livia immediately stopped when she came up behind me. Then she took a deep breath before letting it out.
I watched Kaylee look at me and then, without moving her head, shift her eyes toward Livia. Her nose scrunched.
I watched her cock her head clockwise before tilting it the other way, like a dog trying to understand something.
“You know who this bitch is?” I asked Livia as I walked over to the table.
I had placed a few things around the basement, although Kaylee clearly didn’t have access to them.
She could only reach the bathroom, do her business, and then come back out.
The table and chair were far beyond her reach.
I sat down on the chair and leaned back, folding my arms across my chest.
I could tell Kaylee didn’t like seeing me so well-dressed, like a businesswoman, with my hair done and red lipstick on.
The last time I had seen her in the werewolf land, it had been quite the opposite.
I was the woman running around for justice while she was dressed up to get married.
“Who is she?” Livia asked as she walked over and sat down on the chair.
She was wearing gray baggy pants, a white sweatshirt, and a gray sweater over it.
As we both sat there, I watched Kaylee’s face contort with pain.
“So you brought a copy of yourself to torture me?” Kaylee opened her mouth to speak.
Although I could understand her words clearly, her voice was quite raspy.
Even she touched her neck and tried to clear her throat.
But the way her face twisted in pain proved that her throat was probably so dry it felt
like countless needles were pricking it.
I didn’t understand what she meant. Or was she seeing the similarity as well?
“This is Kaylee,” I answered Livia
instead. “You know, back in the
werewolf land, she was quite a bitch commented my eye moving to Kaytee, whose from intensified.
“What do you mean by back in-” She paused to clear her throat and coughed. “In
the werewolf land? Where are we now?”
I noticed the panic in Kaylee’s voice as she questioned me.
“We are in the human world, Kaylee.”
The minute I said that, I watched her eyes widen.
Her face started to lose color, and her fingers curled around her arms as she
hugged her knees even tighter.
“That’s not true. werewolves are not allowed in the human world. You’re lying,” she hissed, trying to keep herself confident, or maybe trying to convince herself that she was still in the werewolf world.
But I didn’t understand why she would want to be there.
Wasn’t she a criminal there? Had that not occurred to her?
“Yeah, Kaylee. Who do you think is?” I asked as I pointed at Livia.
“This is Livia, a researcher whines
has
taken my place in the bumartworld. So here we are, in the human worth
I watched Kaylee shake her head and touch her hair.
“No, that’s not possible. We shouldn’t be in the human world. I want to go back
home,” she let out, crying like a stubborn brat.
That was who she was. That was how she behaved all the time.
