Chapter 624
Juliet’s eyes burned with fury. She snatched a glass of juice from a nearby table and hurled it at Lauren.
“Lauren! How could you… how could you be so vicious?!”
The juice drenched Lauren’s hair, and she failed to dodge the glass, which struck her forehead with a sickening thud, raising a large welt. She stood there, a pathetic, dripping mess.
“No! It wasn’t me!” The blood ran cold in Lauren’s veins, but she refused to accept her fate. “I just wanted to cause a small incident! It was all Penny’s idea! I never wanted to kill Grandpa, she did it!”
Penny, hearing this, shrieked in disbelief. “Lauren! You’re throwing me to the wolves! Have you no heart? I’m your mother!”
“If I hadn’t cooperated with you, pretending to be your aunt so the Brennans would adopt you, you never would have enjoyed these years of wealth and luxury! You never would have been their precious daughter!”
“After everything I’ve done for you, after you’ve used me up, you expect me to take the fall and die alone? You ungrateful wretch!”
If Lauren hadn’t been implicated, Penny might have kept the secret, waiting for Lauren to get her out so they could enjoy their fortune together. But now that Lauren was finished, what was the point of hiding anything?
“What? Her mother?!”
This bombshell stunned and enraged the Brennans more than anything else.
They had been played for fools by this mother-daughter duo for years. For more chapters visıt ~net
Even as a child, Lauren had been scheming against them.
It wasn’t that she’d gone astray; she was rotten from the start.
“Lauren, you’re disgusting!” Juliet screamed, throwing another glass, this time filled with wine.
Winni stared at Lauren in disbelief, her expression completely alien, making no move to stop Juliet.
Lauren’s mind was a complete blank. She stood there, disheveled and exposed, as judgmental eyes bore into her from every direction. For the first time in her life, she felt true fear, stumbling backward, nearly falling.
Just then, the police arrived the very same police Lauren herself had called.
“Officers, these two women intentionally poisoned my grandfather. The evidence
is all right here,” Anastasia said calmly, handing over the two video files.
An officer snapped a pair of
handcuffs onto Lauren’s wrists The cold steel against her skin jotted her from her stupor. Her eyes, now bloodshot, flew to Anastasia.
“You had this planned all along. You had the evidence from the start. Why didn’t you just show it? Why did you make Grandfather play along with this charade?!”
Anastasia smiled, and though they were the same height, she seemed to look down on Lauren from a great height. “Because I wanted to enjoy the show.”
“You were so confident just a
moment
ago, weren’t you? You
thought your plan was foolproof and that Dwas finished. But in a sudden
twist, you’re the one going to prison.”
“Look at yourself, finally realizing you were nothing but a clown all along. Isn’t it laughable?”
A roar filled Lauren’s ears. Suddenly, her eyes rolled back, a strangled cry tore
from her throat, and she coughed, spitting a spray of blood.
Anastasia jumped, grabbing Harrison’s arm. “Honey, that wasn’t me!”
Harrison remained silent.
In the end, Lauren was taken away in an ambulance, escorted by the police-a truly grand exit.
