Chapter 828
She couldn’t just change her plans. Bruno and Aubrey were incredibly busy, and they had specifically cleared their schedules for this. She couldn’t ask them to reschedule just so she could go on a date.
Seeing her look so dejected, Harrison chuckled, a mixture of amusement and helplessness in his eyes. He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it gently. “It’s alright. If you have something to do, go ahead. I’ll spend Sunday with you instead.”
Anastasia’s head shot up, her eyes shining with joy. “Really?”
“Of course.”
She threw her arms around him. “You’re the best!”
With Harrison’s promise, Anastasia was in high spirits when she left the next day.
She called Bruno and Aubrey, then headed to the Clark family’s home.
Marlon had been waiting for her since early morning. He came out to greet her personally, his eyes looking past her expectantly.
Anastasia smiled. “Mr. Austin and Mr. Brown aren’t with me. They’ll be arriving a little later.”
Marlon laughed sheepishly. “My apologies, I got ahead of myself. Please don’t mind me, Ms. Sterling.”
He then led her inside.
This time, Anastasia saw Mrs. Clark. She was a woman of elegant charm, though she looked frail as she reclined on the sofa. Seeing Anastasia enter, she offered a gentle smile. “Ms. Sterling, please excuse my poor hospitality. I’m too weak to stand and greet you…”
“Please, stay seated. There’s no need to get up.”
As they were exchanging pleasantries, a servant entered. “Sir, Mr. Parker is here!”
The words had barely left the servant’s mouth when Steven walked in.
Steven was in his late forties and looked respectable enough, but from her past life, Anastasia knew just how vile he was underneath.
Mrs. Clark wasn’t the first patient to die because of his misdiagnosis, but the Clarks were the only ones with the power and influence to make a fuss about it.
Even so, he never faced any real consequences. With the help of Queena and Penelope, all the blame was shifted onto her.
At the time, she was already being falsely accused of stealing someone else’s work. Their actions kicked her while she was down, making it impossible for anyone to believe her.
In the end, she died without ever clearing her name, while Steven continued to wear
his veneer of respectability, earning praise and admiration.
Now, living a second time and seeing him again, Anastasia’s eyes were as cold as ice.
“Mr. Parker, what are you doing here?” Marlon stood up, clearly surprised by Steven’s sudden arrival.
Steven smiled warmly. “I was supposed to start the treatment tomorrow, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Since we have all the medicine now, there’s no need to wait. The sooner she’s cured the sooner we can all rest easy, so I came a day early.”
His words touched Marlon, but at the same time, filled him with embarrassment and unease.
To save Steven’s pride, he hadn’t mentioned that Bruno and Aubrey were coming to examine his wife.
While those two were leading figures in the field and far more skilled than Steven, Steven still had a reputation to uphold.

He had already hired Steven, who was confident he could cure his wife. To bring other doctors, a second opinion, would be a great embarrassment to him.
