Chapter 141
“Let’s go take a look, then.” Harrison’s expression barely shifted, his eyes dark and fathomless as he cast a casual glance over Penelope and Mrs. Archer. Just that one look was enough to send a cold sweat trickling down their spines.
The group made their way upstairs, a trail of emboldened guests hurrying after them.
Oh my God, that’s Mr. Harrison Lancaster!
And that means… Anastasia…
Tsk, to marry Harrison Lancaster and still dare to fool around behind his back- she’s doomed!
Gabriel rushed to keep up, his face livid. If he’d ever imagined it would come to this, he might’ve choked the insolent girl years ago. Now, she’d brought disgrace to the Sterling family with her outrageous behavior.
Moments later, everyone stopped outside a closed bedroom door.
Harrison’s gaze was unreadable as he fixed his eyes on the door and raised a hand in a silent command.
Instantly, the corridor fell deathly silent; no one even dared to breathe too loudly.
The lounge was well soundproofed, but in the hush, faint, unmistakable sounds filtered through the door.
Gabriel had turned ashen, his heart sinking into utter despair. It was over.
Penelope curled her lips into a secretive smile, lifted her hand, and reached for the door-
“Hey! What are you all doing here?”
A gentle, melodious voice rang out from nearby.
Penelope froze, whipping her head around.
There stood Anastasia-clothes neat, eyes bright, looking perfectly composed as she stepped out of the room next door.
Penelope’s pupils contracted in shock. “Why are you here?!”
Anastasia smiled and tilted her head. “Well, where else would I be?”
Then she caught sight of the man who outshone everyone in the hall. In an instant, her eyes lit up like stars.
“Darling!” she called, bounding into Harrison’s arms and looking up at him with delighted surprise. “What are you doing here?”
For the first time, a trace of warmth softened Harrison’s perpetually stoic face. He steadied her by the shoulders, his dark eyes lowering to meet hers. “Had enough fun?”
Just three words, but they carried layers of meaning—and a hint of indulgence barely concealed in his tone.
He didn’t look the least bit surprised to see her emerge from the room next door.
Anastasia widened her innocent eyes, clear and guileless. “I don’t think so. Not yet.”
Suddenly, she noticed a gaze burning into her. She turned and saw Crystal glaring at her, eyes red with jealousy—practically vibrating with envy.
Anastasia narrowed her eyes. Yet another woman smitten with her husband. Crystal was probably beside herself with envy by now.
And she was right-Crystal was about to lose her mind. The most update n0vels are published on ⓝovelFind.net
She’d already felt a chill when her mother mentioned “Mr. Harrison Lancaster” downstairs, but she’d refused to believe it. Now, seeing Anastasia nestled in the arms of the man who was always so cold and distant-yet visibly softening for her -forced Crystal to confront reality.
Why? Why did Anastasia get everything? How could that little tramp always come out on top?
Anastasia couldn’t be bothered to spare her another glance. She swept her gaze over Mrs. Archer and Penelope instead, both looking pale and stricken. Clearly, things weren’t going at all as they’d planned.
But…
Things were only going to get worse.
Can’t handle it already?
She gave a small, sly smile, then said suddenly, “Oh, by the way, Mrs. Sinclair was the one who asked me to come upstairs. She said she wanted to talk, but I haven’t seen her anywhere. Have any of you seen her?”
At her words, Penelope felt her heart jolt with dread.
Others quickly caught on and turned to stare at the closed door.
If Anastasia was just fine standing here… then who was in that room?
