Chapter 326
“Hey, sit here-I saved you a spot!”
Juliet’s smile was radiant as she patted the seat beside her, like a child hoping for praise.
Anastasia’s expression softened; she reached out and ruffled Juliet’s hair before sitting down in the empty seat.
The class was called “World Art History.” Usually, Anastasia found it a little dull when she was on her own, but with someone by her side, it suddenly seemed much more interesting.
But halfway through the lecture, her period came on unexpectedly.
She slipped out to the restroom to take care of it and didn’t think much of it, but within minutes of returning, a dull, cramping ache started in her abdomen.
Juliet glanced over and saw Anastasia supporting her forehead with one hand, lips pressed tight, her face pale and drawn as she tried to hide her discomfort. Juliet’s eyes widened in alarm and she leaned in, whispering, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” Anastasia forced a faint smile, trying to reassure her, though her voice was weak.
But Juliet wasn’t buying it. Her face scrunched in worry. “Are you sick? We should ask the professor for permission to leave-I’ll take you to the hospital!”
On the other side, Maggie and Sandra had noticed something was wrong. When they saw how pale Anastasia looked, they were immediately concerned. “Anastasia, what’s wrong?”
All this commotion caught the professor’s attention at the front of the lecture hall.
“Professor, Anastasia isn’t feeling well. Can we get her checked out?” Juliet called.
The professor took one look at Anastasia-she was sweating, clearly in pain- and waved them on. “Go, go, hurry! Are you girls okay to help her, or do you want to find someone to carry her?” Read full story at.net
Anastasia instantly straightened, rallying what little strength she had. “Professor, really, I can walk myself.”
Given how any little thing she did could end up posted on the college forums, there was no way she’d let a guy carry her out. If her husband saw that, he’d be furious…
Anastasia managed to walk, with Juliet and the others supporting her as they hurried out of the classroom.
Maggie, panicking at her ghostly complexion, fumbled for her phone and started
to dial 911, but Anastasia, quicker than she looked, stopped her.
“It’s just my period Her voice was barely above a whisper.
If Maggie actually called an ambulance over period cramps, she’d never live it down. People would remember that forever.
“Are you sure? You look like you’re about to faint-it’s kind of scary!”
“It’s fine. I’ll just call Harrison to come pick me up. I just need to rest for a bit.”
She fished out her phone, hands trembling.
Juliet saw she could barely hold it steady and jumped in. “Here, let me call him for you.”
Anastasia nodded.
Juliet was always a little intimidated by her cousin’s husband, but she pressed the call button anyway. When he answered, she barely dared to breathe.
“Um, Harrison? It’s Juliet. Anastasia isn’t feeling well—”
She was interrupted by Harrison’s voice-cold, urgent, and sharp. “Where are you?”
Juliet blinked, startled, and quickly answered, “We’re by the sixth lecture hall.” Before she could say another word, the call ended abruptly.
Juliet stared at the phone, dumbfounded. She’d wanted to let Anastasia speak for herself!
Three minutes later.
Tires screeched outside. Anastasia, sitting on the steps and clutching her stomach, looked up weakly. Before she could even register what was happening,
a tall, broad-shouldered man was suddenly in front of her.
“Where does it hurt?” Harrison knelt in front of her, gently cupping her face. His jaw was tight, his voice tense-she could see the worry etched on his face.
