Anastasia curled her lip.
She hadn’t expected York to still be protecting Queena after she’d landed him in this mess. What a touching display of devotion.
“You’re quite the loyal one, York, but I wonder if she feels the same way about you,” she said coolly. “I doubt it, or why would she have lied to you?”
“Didn’t she know the consequences you’d face? Anyone who didn’t know better would think she had a grudge against you and set you up on purpose!”
A muscle in York’s jaw twitched violently.
Queena…
No, Queena wouldn’t be that despicable!
York remained stubbornly silent.
Seeing this, Anastasia scoffed inwardly.
Did he really think that if he didn’t confess, she wouldn’t go after Queena?
How laughably naive.
Harrison, his eyes still churning with rage, clearly had no intention of bothering with evidence or reason. The identity of the mastermind was irrelevant to him. Seeing York clamp his mouth shut, he gave a cold, dismissive order: “Dispose of him.”
With that one simple phrase, York’s fate was sealed. He would disappear from Riverton for good.
York clearly understood the implication and became frantic. “No, Mr. Lancaster… Mr. Lancaster! There’s no crime in ignorance! Please, give me a break! I’m willing to work for you from now on!”
Anastasia nearly laughed out loud. Work for Harrison? Countless people would kill for that privilege, and he thought he could offer it as penance? What a daydreamer.
Then again, York’s confidence wasn’t entirely baseless.
To be fair, he had built up a considerable network of influence in Riverton over the years.
Suddenly, an idea struck her-
York was a scumbag, and the people willing to work for him were
undoubtedly no better. Disposing of York alone wouldn’t stop his network from continuing their misdeeds, and

to see.
So, she stood on her toes, leaned close to Harrison’s ear, and whispered a few words.
Harrison squeezed her hand.
For him, dismantling a mere criminal network was a trivial matter, something he
could delegate to his subordinates with a single command.
When York heard the order, his face drained of color. “Mr. Lancaster-!”
He had just started to speak when his mouth was roughly gagged. He might
hisave changed his mind about
staying silent, but Harrison was no longer interested in listening.
“He seems to be quite fond of this river, doesn’t he? Before you finish, let him go for
a swim.”
Leaving that final order hanging in the air, he led Anastasia into the car.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Is he going to die?”
Gently stroking her hair, Harrison said, “No.”
After having her in his life, he had become more careful, more protective of his reputation. It wasn’t worth getting his hands dirty for someone like York.
But besides death, there were plenty of ways to make a person wish they were dead.
He didn’t need to tell her that, though.
Anastasia was instantly relieved by his answer-not out of concern for York of course, but because she felt a minor character like him wasnt Worth Harrison risking legal trouble over.
Then, right in front of Harrison, she unabashedly took out her phone and made a
call. “Find out where Queena is right now.”
She tilted her head up and kissed Harrison on the chin. “You don’t have to help me
with this next part. I need to blow off some steam, too.”
Harrison kissed the top of her head. “Of course.”
Two hours later.
Anastasia walked brazenly into Queena’s residence.
