Chapter 426
The old man let out a silent sigh, the deep lines around his eyes etched with unmistakable disappointment.
Murray glanced at Lauren, his thoughts racing.
Lauren’s words had clearly implied that Anastasia had cheated on her entrance exam. But Mr. Lockwood of Global Harmony Medical Institute was known for his unwavering integrity-there was no way he’d allow something like that to happen, let alone let anyone fake a perfect score in such a public fashion.
Murray kept his expression neutral, but a seed of doubt took root in his mind.
Unaware of the brewing storm in the Brennan household, Anastasia went home, enjoyed a blissful night’s sleep, and woke feeling refreshed and ready for her first day at Global Harmony Medical Institute.
Outside the main entrance of Global Harmony Medical Institute, a crowd had already gathered.
“She’s here, she’s here! Anastasia just arrived!”
Her car hadn’t even come to a full stop when the paparazzi, who’d been lurking nearby, sprang into action. Cameras on their shoulders, they rushed toward her in a frenzy.
Logan, sitting in the passenger seat, jumped in surprise. “Why are there so many people?”
Anastasia lazily straightened up from Harrison’s arms, unhurried and unfazed.
“Well, your darling wife just got a score for the record books. Don’t you think I’m worth a little attention?” She smiled faintly, watching the chaotic scene outside with nothing but calm amusement. Dıscover more novels at.net
Harrison’s eyes narrowed; he was about to order the bodyguards to clear the crowd when Anastasia reached out, stopping him.
“No need for that. They just want an interview, right? Let them have it,” she said, completely at ease, as if she’d expected this all along and already had a plan.
Harrison frowned, clearly reluctant, but he relented after a moment. He reached over to straighten her collar and tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear, his voice low and steady. “I’ll have the bodyguards clear a path for you. Let them interview you if you want, but if anyone so much as tries to touch you—”
“I know, I know. Relax, Hubby!” Anastasia pressed a quick kiss to his lips before stepping out of the car.
“She’s out! Anastasia’s out!”
Excitement rippled through the paparazzi as they surged forward, only to be held back by a wall of bodyguards.
“Anastasia! Are you here to register at Global Harmony Medical Institute today?”
“That perfect score-did you really get it on your own?”
“Before you, Lauren was the youngest ever admitted to Global Harmony Medical Institute. She was only twenty when she started two years ago! But you’re just nineteen-you’ve broken her record! What do you have to say about that?”
Surrounded by bodyguards, Anastasia walked with an easy confidence. At that last question, she stopped, a faint, amused smile playing on her lips.
“What do I have to say?” She tilted her head in mock confusion. “If I remember correctly, didn’t she only score a seventy? And her exam was easier than mine, wasn’t it? I got a perfect score-how is it even a comparison?”
How is it even a comparison?
Her arrogant, unfiltered response left everyone stunned.
No one had expected her to be so brazen-especially with all the cameras rolling, and the interview being broadcast live! Anastasia hadn’t spared Lauren a sliver of dignity.
After all, who was Anastasia? Just a newly admitted student. Lauren, on the other hand, was the chosen successor to the legendary healer, Cecilia Brennan, the favorite of the Institute’s deputy director, and the undisputed leader among the students at Global Harmony.
How could Anastasia even dare to say something like that?
