Chapter 488
Anastasia shot her a glance. “Can’t remember?”
She checked the time on her phone, her voice casual. “No rush. There’s still plenty of time. I’ll wait while you think it over.”
The moment those words left her lips, Cora knew she had no way out-Anastasia wasn’t going to let this go today.
And even if she stayed silent, it would be child’s play for Anastasia to get her hands on that list of names.
Left with no choice, Cora began reciting them, one by one.
Anastasia’s elegant fingers danced across the keyboard. On the massive computer monitor, name after name appeared, filling the screen.
After more than ten minutes, the list finally ended.
Anastasia smiled and turned to Cora. “All right, now do me one more favor. Message each of these people. Tell them I’m giving them ten minutes. If they don’t show up within ten minutes, they can pack their things and leave the Global Harmony Medical Institute.”
The room erupted in shock.
“Anastasia! Who gave you the right?!” Lauren snapped, leaping to her feet, her eyes blazing with anger. New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on.net
Anastasia regarded her with mild curiosity. “The Dean did, of course. Didn’t you know?”
Before Lauren could reply, Anastasia added, “If I’m not mistaken, all these people are auditors, aren’t they?”
The Global Harmony Medical Institute had always been famously selective. This year, out of all the candidates who sat the entrance exam, only Anastasia had been accepted. It was notoriously difficult to get in.
But there was another rule: once admitted, a student could only stay for a
maximum of ten years. Most found a new path within that time.
Yet, somehow, the Institute now had hundreds of students-an obvious red flag to anyone paying attention.
After talking to Mr. Lockwood, Anastasia had uncovered the truth.
The Institute had a large group of auditors-students who hadn’t met the standards for admission but had been granted special permission to attend lectures and learn. Outwardly, they looked no different from regular students, but in reality, they were never truly part of the Institute.
Lauren, in her two years at the Institute, had built her support base almost entirely from these auditors Since they lacked the privileges full students, they’d naturally want to get as many benefits as possible, which meant latching onto someone with influence.
And Lauren, the Institute’s most celebrated prodigy, was the perfect person for them to cozy up to.
Lauren wasn’t buying Anastasia’s
explanation for a second. She shot
back, “As if the Dean would let you
run wild
on a
like this! Even if they’re just ‘t just kick them out
who do you think you
are?”
Anastasia didn’t even bat an eye. “If you don’t believe me, go ask the Dean yourself.”
Then she turned to Cora. “Two minutes have already passed. They have eight left.”
Cora’s face went pale. She hesitated only a second before sending the message to Lauren’s supporters’ group chat.
Something told her Anastasia wasn’t bluffing-she really would kick them out.
In the group chat, the replies came quick and mocking.
“She wants to throw us out of the Institute? Hilarious! Who does she think she is?”
“Nobody go. Let’s see what she can actually do!”
Anastasia glanced lazily at the time. “Six minutes left.”
Around the room, people exchanged helpless looks.
Kick people out just for not showing up? That was so outrageous, even Mr. Evert didn’t have that kind of authority.
Those auditors weren’t idiots-they’d never show up. Anastasia was about to make a fool of herself.
