Chapter 824
Anastasia looked up. “I’m just confused. The papers were submitted in order, so how could they have gotten mixed up?”
“That was my fault. I was careless,” Queena admitted without hesitation.
Some people still had their doubts, but with Yves claiming innocence, Queena admitting her mistake, and Pamela confessing, the matter was settled. The one who had cheated, and would face punishment, was Pamela.
“Then, Pamela, where did you get Mrs. Clark’s file ahead of time?” Anastasia asked coldly.
Pamela mumbled, “I… I went to a professor’s office to ask something, but he wasn’t there. I happened to see Mrs. Clark’s file…”
It was true that Pamela had visited a professor’s office the day before the assignment, and that professor was one of the few who had access to the file. Her explanation was difficult to refute.
Hubery frowned. Like Anastasia, he didn’t quite believe this version of the “truth.”
He glanced at Anastasia, who gave him a slight shake of her head. Hubery understood that she had another plan, so he suppressed his suspicions for the time being.
He turned to the Vice Dean and said, “Such egregious behavior cannot be tolerated. Pamela, is it? We can’t keep a student like this. Expel her immediately.”
At his words, the color drained from Pamela’s face. She looked anxiously at
Queena, then pleaded with Hubery, “Dean, I know I was wrong—”
Hubery waved his hand, cutting off her plea without listening.
“That’s final.”
He stood up and left the office.
The Vice Dean addressed Pamela with a stone faced expression. “We are all adults here. If you dare to do something, you must be prepared to face the consequences. Go and prepare to leave the Global Harmony Medical Institute.”
With another wave of his hand, he dismissed everyone from the office. Pamela was devastated. She grabbed Queena’s arm. “Queena-“
Before she could say more, Queena seized her arm, squeezing it hard Her eyes were full of warning. “I
now this is hard to accept, and the punishment is severe. I’ll try to plead your case later. Let’s talk outside.”
Meeting her sharp gaze, Pamela flinched and fell silent.
Anastasia observed everything with a cold smile before leaving the office and heading straight to Hubery’s.
“I suspect Yves also cheated on the entrance exam, and that Queena helped him,” she said bluntly as soon as she entered his office.
Hubery was stunned. “He cheated on the exam, too?!”
His face darkened, and he shot to his feet. “This is outrageous! We can’t let this go
Anastasia stopped him. “It’s just a suspicion. Although I’m almost certain, I don’t have any proof. Any traces they might have left are likely gone by now. If we act rashly, not only will we fail to prove anything, but we might eve make them look
like the victims. Then we’d be the
ones in the wrong.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be impossible to investigate. With a bit of pressure, Pamela
might recant her confession, and Yves’s actual skills wouldn’t hold up to scrutiny.
But that would only bring down Yves. Queena would walk away clean, and that was not the outcome Anastasia wanted.
Hearing her logical assessment, Hubery asked, “What do you have in mind?”
