Chapter 628
Anastasia’s head snapped up. She wasn’t alone in this fight. She had someone to rely on.
So what if her enemies were powerful? Her husband was no ordinary man.
A wave of relief washed over her, and her eyes grew warm. She managed a small smile. “Thank you.”
Harrison gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “You never need to thank me,” he said softly.
The Brennans watched the exchange, a collective weight lifting from their shoulders.
Whatever their initial thoughts on Harrison, they were now thoroughly satisfied.
With him by her side, anyone trying to harm Anastasia would find it far more difficult.
After that dinner, Anastasia’s focus shifted back to Nora.
She had been having Nora watched, but since there had been no activity, she hadn’t paid much attention lately.
Learning that another party was responsible for her mother’s murder was a shock, but she refused to believe Nora was innocent.
All signs pointed to Nora being involved, even if she wasn’t the mastermind.
Just then, she remembered the unexplained three hundred million in Nora’s bank account.
As she was pondering this, Sonder, whom she hadn’t heard from in a while, sent her a message.
[Sonder: Nora and Gabriel bought tickets to Riverton, leaving in three days. Did you know?]
Anastasia blinked, immediately contacting her surveillance team. The reply came back: “We don’t know about any tickets, but they have been liquidating their assets in Fairhaven. It certainly looks like they’re planning to leave.”
[Sonder: I did a little ‘digging’ into their calls with their eldest daughter, Queena Sterling. It seems they can’t make it in Fairhaven anymore, so they’re moving to Riverton to live with her. Queena has already arranged a place for them at [Address], apartment [Number]. The door code is
Anastasia was speechless.
That was some very thorough “little digging.”
She hadn’t expected Gabriel and Nora to run to Queena.
It seemed Queena was doing quite well for herself in Riverton.
Anastasia’s eyes darkened, and a cold smile touched her lips. [Sonder: Do you want me to keep them here for you?]
Anastasia considered it, then replied, “No, that’s alright.” Sonder thought she wanted them trapped in Fairhaven for a slow, torturous revenge, but that wasnt her
tention
Besides, letting Nora out into the world might just lead her, like a breadcrumb trail,
to her mother’s real killer.
After chatting with Sonder,
Anastasia went downstairs to find Elder Mrs. Lancaster had arrived with Stella They were in the middle of a conversation with Harrison.
At the sound of her footsteps, all three looked up.
“Grandma,” Anastasia greeted her.
Elder Mrs. Lancaster’s face lit up with a warm smile. “Anastasia, dear.”
Stella, however, eyed her with suspicion, her entire body tensed as if expecting an attack.
Anastasia raised an eyebrow, wondering what on earth that scoundrel Marcus had been telling her.
She walked over and sat beside Harrison. “Hubby, what were you guys talking about?” ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ (.)net
“About returning to Riverton,” Harrison said gently.
“Back to Riverton?” Anastasia’s interest was piqued.
“Yes, the holidays are coming up, so
I was just asking Harrison if he
planned to bring you back to Riverton to celebrate,” the old woman explained. fo
