Anastasia simply found the situation absurd and comical. She looked at Monica’s upturned chin with a look of pity one might reserve for the truly clueless.
She asked in all sincerity-
“I have a question I’m curious about. What exactly gives you the confidence to believe my Hubby is the son of a mistress, while your boyfriend is Mr. Harrison Lancaster’s actual brother?”
“Hilarious!” Monica felt that Anastasia, who was still denying everything, was absolutely pathetic. “Do you think I don’t know my own boyfriend’s identity?”
“Exactly!” the others chimed in. “We’ve seen Mr. Lancaster’s style with our own eyes. How could he not be a Lancaster?”
Monica sneered, “Stop being stubborn. Hurry up, smash that fake on your wrist, apologize to me, and you can leave!”
She held up her own wrist, displaying the gemstone bracelet. “This is a one-of-a- kind gift from my Lennon. I don’t want to see any fakes!”
“That’s right, smash it! How shameless can you be, wearing a fake in front of the real owner?!”
When Anastasia didn’t move, someone hoping to curry favor with Monica stepped forward, intending to do it for her.
“Are you deaf? Then I’ll help you—”
Before he could finish, a lazy voice cut through from the ballroom entrance. “Well now, what’s all this?”
