Chapter 492
Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. Their admiration for Anastasia deepened, but with the tension gone, they could at last leave the room with peace of mind.
As soon as the others stepped out, Harrison caught Ana’s hand mid-task and pulled her into his arms. He pressed a gentle kiss to her lips, his palms cradling her face with a tenderness that calmed the storm inside her. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on ͟.net
“It’s alright now. I’m fine, see?” he murmured, eyes locked on hers.
Others only saw her calm, her poise, but Harrison noticed the truth-her jaw was tight, anger still simmering just beneath the surface, and deep in her eyes, a glimmer of fear lingered.
She was still worried about him.
Anastasia froze for a heartbeat, then clung to him fiercely, her slender frame trembling ever so slightly. No one knew just how terrified she’d been when Logan called. She’d been forcing herself to stay composed until now, when the dam finally broke and the fear came pouring out.
“Thank God you’re okay she murmured, relief flooding her voice.
Harrison being drugged-this hadn’t happened in her last life. She couldn’t help but wonder: if her return had changed things, if something terrible had happened to him because of her, what would she do?
“Don’t be afraid. I’m right here,” Harrison whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, his deep voice radiating warmth and reassurance.
After a while, Anastasia steadied herself. But the thought of someone daring to harm her husband made her eyes turn icy. “If we find out who did this, they won’t get away with it. I’ll make sure they pay.”
This time she’d been there to protect Harrison, so he was safe. But what if she hadn’t been? If this had happened in the past, his three-year prognosis could have been cut down to less than six months.
“They will,” Harrison replied, his gaze turning cold and lethal.
A servant soon arrived with Harrison’s medicine. Anastasia insisted on watching
as he drank it. The bitter concoction was almost impossible to stomach, but Harrison was already used to it. He picked up the cup, downed half without so much as a flinch.
Then, catching sight of Ana by his side, he suddenly stopped.
Anastasia’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling sick?”
“No,” he reassured her. After she’d given him acupuncture earlier, his headache
and ringing ears had nearly vanished.
“Then what is it?” she asked, puzzled.
“The medicine’s a little bitter,”
Harrison said, his eyes darkening as he stroked her smooth cheek. “And it’s been ages since you fed me my medicine.”
Back when they’d lived at Rosewood Manor, she’d insisted on feeding him every single dose, three times a day. It had been a sweet ritual, but af moving into the apartment, with her busy class schedule, once a day was all she could manage.
Anastasia finally realized what he meant, and her cheeks flushed pink. Embarrassed, she instinctively tried to turn away, but he chuckled softly.
“What’s wrong? Ana, don’t you want to?”
She froze, then forced herself to meet his gaze, feigning composure. “Of course I do!”
To prove her point, she took the cup, tipped it back, and swallowed a large mouthful too quickly, so that a little dribbled down the corner of her mouth.
Fueled by a sudden burst of
courage, she leaned in. Harrison’s eyes darkened as he pulled her closer, his hand locking behind he head as he kissed her deeply,
sharing the bitter medicine between them.

By the time the cup was empty, twenty minutes had slipped by. Anastasia was left
slumped in his arms, breathless and dazed.
Harrison held her close, gently rubbing her back. He glanced down at her flushed, disheveled face, and a flicker of amusement danced in his eyes.
Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, “Looks like you’re a little out of practice, Ana. We’ll have to work on your technique.”
Anastasia: “.”
As if that’s a skill I need to improve!
