Chapter 560
Anastasia knew he was upset, but she understood completely. In fact, she was a little touched that he hadn’t stormed over last night and dragged her home by force.
Though he grumbled, her darling would always put her first. He knew how
important these last few days were and had given her an extraordinary amount of leeway.
For a man as possessive and clingy as Harrison, that was a small miracle. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ.net
“I was wrong,” she murmured, wrapping her arms around his firm torso and nuzzling into his chest. “I’m so tired, darling. Let’s just go home.”
As she spoke, her eyelids grew heavy. She had been running on fumes, putting on a brave face for everyone, but now, wrapped in his secure embrace, a wave of relief washed over her, and her body finally relaxed.
Seeing her so trusting and pliant, the tension in Harrison’s jaw eased, and the storm in his eyes began to clear.
“Mr. Lancaster.” Mr. Lynn and the others hurried over to greet him.
Harrison’s status as a Lancaster was reason enough for their deference, but the fact that he was Anastasia’s husband demanded their utmost respect.
Harrison gave a curt nod. “Mr. Lynn.”
They exchanged a few pleasantries, but Harrison cut the conversation short when he saw Anastasia practically falling asleep in his arms.
“I’m taking Ana home. I’ll leave the company in your capable hands for now.”
His polite tone left Mr. Lynn and the team feeling deeply honored. They nodded vigorously. “Of course. Ms. Sterling has been working around the clock for a week. She deserves a good rest.”
Satisfied, Harrison gently pinched his wife’s cheek. “Time to go home. Can you walk?”
Spoiled by his affection, Anastasia wanted nothing more than for him to carry her, but with so many people watching, she felt a blush creep up her neck.
Straightening up, she forced her eyes open. I can walk.”
Harrison took her hand, and they made their way out of the building.
The moment they stepped outside Unison Pharma, they were ambushed by a swarm of reporters who had been lying in wait.
“Look, it’s Anastasia Sterling!”
“She’s out!”
The journalists surged forward, but Harrison was prepared. Before they could get close a wall of imposing bodyguards materialized, forming an impenetrable barrier.
Undeterred, the reporters began shouting their questions.
“Ms. Sterling! What have you accomplished this week?”
“Is it true you claimed you could develop a new drug in one week that would
surpass Ms. Brennan’s two years of research?”
“A week is up! Did you succeed?!”
Anastasia was so exhausted she
was stumbling, her eyes half-closed. Only Harrison’s firm grip kept her from walking into a wall. The reporters’ aggressive shouts Telted her awake. Seeing their relentless expressions, she gave a short, clear answer.
“I succeeded.”
The press corps was stunned into silence. They hadn’t expected an answer, let alone that one.
“Are you joking, Ms. Sterling?!”
One reporter challenged sharply, “Did you really develop a new drug, or is this all just a bluff?!”
“If you succeeded, Ms. Sterling, what disease does your new drug treat? How effective is it?!”
Anastasia fought the urge to yawn, leaning almost her entire
