Chapter 418
The exam was scheduled for two hours, but Anastasia didn’t want to keep Harrison waiting. She handed in her paper after just forty minutes.
As she walked out of the building, a group of paparazzi clutching cameras spotted her, their eyes lighting up with excitement.
“Look! Is that her?”
“It really is Anastasia. She actually showed up to take the test! Is she not embarrassed at all?”
“How is she out so soon? Can anyone finish the exam in that little time?”
“What a joke-she probably didn’t know any of the answers. I bet she just wrote her name and left
“Hurry up, don’t let her get away!”
Anastasia noticed the cluster of paparazzi instantly. When she saw them moving in for the ambush, her gaze turned cold, lashes lifting ever so slightly. Follow current novels on.net
But before she could react, two teams of well-trained security guards appeared out of nowhere, blocking the paparazzi several steps away. One of them spoke respectfully, “Ma’am, your car is ready.”
Anastasia nodded, her eyes drifting to the car waiting just ahead. The corners of her lips curved in a small smile and, picking up her pace, she headed over with a light, almost buoyant step.
Inside the car, Harrison was right where she’d left him, a laptop open in front of him. The moment she climbed in, he closed the computer.
With her nearby, he couldn’t concentrate on anything else.
“Darling, you really stayed here the whole time?” Anastasia threw herself into his arms the second she got in, her voice a mix of delight and concern. “It’s freezing out. You could’ve waited for me in the hotel lobby, you know.”
Harrison wrapped his arms around her. “The car’s got heating. I’m perfectly comfortable.”
Anastasia frowned prettily. “But it’s so cramped in here. You must have been so stuffy.”
Hearing the worry in her voice, Harrison’s lips quirked up. “It’s fine. Really.” Before she could argue, he changed the subject. “How did you finish so fast?”
“I didn’t want you to wait too long,” she answered without hesitation.
Harrison couldn’t help but laugh, half exasperated, half amused. He gently pinched her soft earlobe. “That’s the only reason you rushed? Did you finish all the questions?”
“Of course I did,” Anastasia said proudly, tipping her chin up. “I answered every single one!”
“Oh? That quickly? Was it really that easy?”
She thought for a moment. “Not really… For me, it wasn’t hard.”
The set of questions was about the same difficulty as what Mr. Jerome had given her to practice before. Maybe it was tough for others, but she’d finished everything in just half an hour and spent a few more minutes double-checking her
answers.
Harrison was well aware of the reputation Global Harmony Medical Institute had for tough entrance exams. Hearing Anastasia’s confident tone, he fell silent for a beat. “So, Ana, what do you think your score will be?”
Anastasia blinked, then gave a modest smile. “If nothing goes wrong, probably a perfect score.”
Harrison was speechless.
A perfect score wasn’t impossible, but Global Harmony Medical Institute was notorious for its rigorous standards. If her results came back flawless, wouldn’t people start talking?
“Darling, what are you thinking about?” Anastasia noticed his distracted expression and nudged him, unable to hide her curiosity.
“It’s nothing,” he replied.
Of course, Harrison wasn’t about to admit he was already wondering how to grant Ana’s wish for a perfect score without stirring up suspicion or gossip.
“I’m starving! Let’s go home, please?” Anastasia pleaded, snuggling deeper into his arms.
The exam room had been drafty, and her hands were still cold even after a few minutes in the car. Harrison’s embrace was warm, and she burrowed in, pressing her chilly hands under his shirt, trying to soak up some heat.
He caught her wandering hands and held them in his own. Alright,” he said, squeezing them gently.
Anastasia looked up at him, eyes wide and pleading. “It’s warmer under your shirt.”
Harrison didn’t protest. He let her slip her hands back against his skin.
She grinned, looking as pleased as a mouse who’d stolen a crumb of cheese, her eyes crinkling with secret delight. “You’re the best!”
She tipped her head up and planted a quick kiss on his chin.
As the car pulled away from the curb, Anastasia glanced out the window and spotted the paparazzi, still blocked by security, snapping photos furiously.
Their persistence irked Harrison. His eyes darkened, cold as slate. “Logan,” he called, his voice low and edged with warning.
