Chapter 178
This was just… unforgivable!
His needs were supposed to be her top priority-how could she have been so careless?
“Ah-!” A sudden cry of pain escaped her lips.
In her rush, Anastasia had sliced her hand.
“Ma’am, you’re bleeding!” the cook gasped, instantly flustered. Dıscover more novels at
Out in the hall, Harrison jolted awake. His heart clenched tight, a pang of panic sweeping through him before he could deny it.
Without thinking, he sprang to his feet and burst into the kitchen.
Inside-
“I’m fine—” Anastasia began, but her words were cut short as her vision blurred and someone seized her hand.
It was Harrison.
She froze, startled. “Honey
Blood welled from her finger, and Harrison’s face grew even grimmer than before.
“Get the first aid kit,” he ordered, his tone cold.
The cook scurried off at once.
Anastasia, still shaky, let him pull her along, his pace brisk as he led her out of the kitchen.
Her finger throbbed, and his presence was as intimidating as ever. Yet, despite knowing he’d been angry with her, the way he fussed over her made her heart ache and flutter all at once.
A servant soon returned with bandages and antiseptic. Anastasia obediently sat by Harrison’s side, letting him tend to her wound.
There was a family doctor on call-no one would normally expect Mr. Harrison Lancaster himself to handle such things. But seeing the look on his face, not a soul dared suggest it.
“I’m sorry, honey Anastasia murmured, head bowed, her voice muffled with guilt. “I promised I’d cook for you, but I can’t even chop vegetables right. I’m so useless.”
Seeing her so crestfallen, Harrison’s frustration surged with nowhere to go. His handsome face darkened further. “Isn’t there anyone else in this house? Why were you even handling the knife yourself?”
Anastasia glanced up, searching his stormy expression. Strangely, she wasn’t the least bit afraid. Her eyes shone as she whispered, “Honey, are you… worried about me?”
Before he could respond, her eyes filled with tears and she threw herself into his
arms.
“I’m sorry, honey. Please, will you forgive me? Next time, I promise I’ll make you a real meal!”
Harrison said nothing, but as soon as she dove into his arms, his body instinctively welcomed her. It wasn’t until she was nestled against him that he realized just how natural it felt.
His expression shifted, hardening as he listened to her pitiful little voice. He tried to maintain his frosty demeanor, but his heart simply wouldn’t obey, melting despite himself.
He squeezed his eyes shut and barked, “Sit up.”
Anastasia stiffened, the hurt plain on her face as she looked up with teary eyes, trying hard not to cry. “You… you don’t even want me to hug you anymore?”
Harrison’s scowl deepened, but what he said was, “Do you want to lose your hand?”
Her cut was still bleeding.
Anastasia’s eyes lit up. She quickly straightened and sat obediently. “No, I want to keep it!”
She gazed at his striking, cold profile, her eyes bright with admiration.
She’d upset him, yet here he was, putting her injury before anything else. He really was the best.
Not far away, Juliet suddenly stopped in her tracks.
She’d rushed through her shower and thrown on fresh clothes, urging the maid to take her over as quickly as possible-afraid of what that Mr. Harrison Lancaster might do to her cousin.
But she never expected to witness a scene like this.
Her cousin sat nestled close beside the man. Despite Harrison’s intimidating expression, his touch as he bandaged Anastasia’s hand was gentle, betraying a tenderness he couldn’t hide.
If you watched closely, it was obvious how much he doted on the girl next to him. More than once, when Anastasia said something, he looked as if he wanted to snap-only to melt again, unable to stay angry.
Juliet stared, stunned.
-Was this really Mr. Harrison Lancaster?
