“What trouble could there be?” Now that he had her attention, the man’s expression softened. “I gave him enough face today. You think he’ll dare to cause trouble for me again?”
He let out a cold, displeased snort, the threat in his voice unmistakable.
Anastasia’s heart ached for him. She hugged him tighter. “You wanted to partner with him for my sake, didn’t you?”
The thought of Harrison, who had always been so proud and never bowed his head to anyone, being put in such a difficult position made her feel terrible.
Harrison stroked her hair and looked down at her. “Where did you hear that?”
“I overheard people talking about it at the party!” She puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. “If I hadn’t accidentally heard, you would have just kept it from me, wouldn’t you?”
He coaxed her softly, “You don’t know much about the business side of things. I just didn’t want you to worry…”
“But I ended up helping, didn’t I?” Anastasia cut him off before he could finish, lifting her chin with a touch of pride. “As soon as I stepped in, it was settled. If you had told me earlier, none of this would have happened, and the contract would have been signed long ago!”
Harrison chuckled and kissed her hair. “You’re right. It was my mistake.”
“And it was just about medicinal herbs! Have you forgotten what I do? How could you not tell me?”
This time, Harrison was at a loss for words. He knew Ana was a brilliant doctor, but he had no idea she could procure such rare herbs.

His face was dark as he sneered, “Well done, Harrison. Very impressive! But you’d better be able to produce those herbs. Otherwise, Marlon won’t let you off the hook!”
