Chapter 869
Moved by Bruno’s defense, Anastasia answered earnestly, “Professor, I did treat Ms. Green. I happened to cross paths with her and was able to diagnose her condition. As it turned out, my mother’s medical journals contained records of the illness and its treatment method p>
“Out of compassion, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing, so I asked if they would let me try to help, and they agreed at the time p>
“I am certain my diagnosis was correct and the medicine I prescribed was right. But for some unknown reason, Ms. Green went into shock after taking it. When I offered to examine her, Mr. and Mrs. Green refused, insisting it was my medicine’s fault p>
Soon after, she heard that Queena had saved Martha, becoming the Green family’s great benefactor.
Anastasia refused to believe there wasn’t something suspicious about the whole affair.
“What are you implying? That if your medicine was fine, then the problem was with us? You think we framed you using Martha’s health?!” Mrs. Green demanded angrily.
“You claim Anastasia’s medicine was faulty, but what proof do you have?!” Aubrey, who had a notoriously short temper, snapped. “And how can you be sure you didn’t make a mistake while administering it p>
Mrs. Green was momentarily speechless.
Bruno then added, “Without evidence, we can’t assign blame. If you have concrete proof that Anastasia prescribed the wrong medicine, I will not shield her. But I will not allow you to convict her based on your word alone p>
Many in the crowd nodded in agreement.
“Mr. Austin has a point p>
Seeing this, Queena bit her lip in frustration.
Why was it that for the same issue, her reputation was ruined while Anastasia was being defended and faced no consequences?
“Queena? That’s your name, isn’t it?” Aubrey fixed his cold gaze on her. “This isn’t the first time, is it? You’ve targeted Anastasia repeatedly as if you want to crush her. And people actually used to admire someone like you p>
“Sir, my daughter was only seeking revenge! What’s wrong with that?!” Nora cried out emotionally. “Look at my daughter! Look at what she’s become! Anastasia did this to her! Doesn’t she have the right to retaliate p>
“Besides, she was only speaking the truth about what Anastasia did. She wasn’t slandering her. Is that not allowed either p>
Nora had clearly been through a lot lately. Her haggard appearance and desperate,
raw plea stirred a flicker of sympathy in many onlookers.
“What does she mean? Anastasia did that to Queena p>
“Yes, she did. She sent people to beat her own sister into this state. Anastasia is a truly cruel and vicious person!” Gabriel accused, his face flushed with rage.
The thought that this incident had caused his newly founded company to collapse agam fueled his fury wanted nothing more than to tear his disgraceful daughter apart.
Glancing at Queena in her wheelchair, her injuries too severe to hide, the crowd began to whisper in shock.
Suddenly, Anastasia felt a wave of disapproving and condemnatory stares.
“Did Anastasia really do it p>
“They’re sisters, after all. How could she be so ruthless p>
“No wonder even her own father came here to condemn her. She really is cold- hearted p>
