Chapter 360
“Hey, babe!” Anastasia hurried into the car, glancing at Harrison’s face first. He looked calm, not the least bit angry, which made her breathe a silent sigh of relief.
“When did you get here?” she asked, a hint of nervousness in her voice.
“Just now.” Harrison wrapped an arm around her waist, his tone unreadable.
His gaze cut through the window, fixing on Aaron outside.
At that moment, Aaron felt an icy chill run down his spine, his face going pale. The memory of his injured leg seemed to ache all over again.
What had Mr. Harrison Lancaster seen? What had he heard?
Anastasia noticed Harrison’s stare and tensed up. “Babe?”
Glancing at Aaron outside, she hurried to explain, “I was just coming out to find you when he jumped in front of me, talking all kinds of nonsense. But I’ve taken care of it—we’re not involved, I promise. Don’t be upset.”
Feeling how anxious she was, Harrison finally looked away and gently ruffled her hair. “I’m not upset. Let’s go.”
That last part was directed at the driver.
Seeing that he really wasn’t angry, Anastasia finally relaxed.
Meanwhile, at the campus gate, Aaron felt like he’d barely escaped death.
Watching the car pull away at last, his legs nearly gave out he almost collapsed
on the spot.
Thank God-Mr. Harrison Lancaster didn’t seem to have heard anything incriminating. He was off the hook… for now.
He fled in panic, completely missing the figure standing in the shadows nearby- Penelope.
Penelope’s face was ashen, her nails digging painfully into her palm.
She’d heard every word Aaron had said.
Sure, she’d tried to seduce Aaron-she wanted to steal Anastasia’s man, to get close to the Lancaster family’s power. That much was true. But to say she didn’t have any real feelings for him? Impossible!
Aaron’s words felt like a slap across her face-sharp and humiliating.
Someone spotted her lingering nearby.
“Look at that some people still have the nerve to show up at school,” someone sneered.
“She’s probably here to withdraw. Didn’t she promise, in front of everyone, that if she ever got involved with Aaron, she’d quit Kingsbridge University on the spot?”
“Yeah, she acted all righteous back then. Turns out she wasn’t innocent at all— she went after him herself! Shameless.”
“No matter how hard she tried to get his attention, what good did it do? Did you hear him just now? She practically threw herself at him and he’s still hung up on Anastasia. Hilarious!”
“Didn’t she also swear she’d publicly get on her knees and apologize to the whole school?”
Penelope’s face flushed hot and cold-humiliation and anger burning through her. She shot a furious glare at the gossiping students, then turned and fled, desperate to escape.
That night.
Anastasia leaned against the headboard, a medical textbook in her hands. Somewhere between chapters, she drifted off to sleep.
After finishing his work, Harrison came in and gently took the book from her hands.
Sensing the movement, Anastasia frowned in her sleep, muttering something under her breath, but as soon as she felt his familiar presence, her expression relaxed. She nuzzled his palm, then slipped back into a peaceful slumber.
Watching her, Harrison’s eyes softened, a rare tenderness settling over his features.
Carefully, he eased her down, pulled the blanket over her, and pressed a gentle kiss to her smooth forehead before quietly leaving the room. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the.net
