Chapter 783
Just as he’d said yesterday, Benson was truly returning to work today. After Anastasia saw him off with his manager, she took her cousin to the Austin family home.
Bruno had previously agreed to take Juliet on as his apprentice, though he still needed to conduct a token assessment. Now that Juliet was ready, it was time for her to be tested.
Anastasia had full confidence in Juliet, and just as she expected, Juliet answered all of Bruno’s questions smoothly.
Finally, Bruno nodded in satisfaction. “Excellent. I’ll take her as my student!”
Juliet’s face flushed with excitement.
This was Mr. Austin Sr.! A titan in the medical field, someone she had only heard of by reputation and never dreamed she’d be qualified to meet!
“Mentor!” she said, addressing him with solemn respect.
Bruno responded with a kind smile.
Anastasia, propping her chin on her hand, couldn’t help but interject, “Mentor, while you’re at it, why don’t you take me as your student today too?”
Bruno turned to meet her expectant gaze. For a moment, he was tempted, but then he remembered her talent. If he were to take her as his apprentice, he would only be holding her back.
Steeling himself, he refused again, saying with a sigh, “Stop trying to win me over. There’s someone far better suited to be your mentor. There’s an industry gathering in a little while; I’ll take you to meet him then.”
He thought for a moment. “If, after that, you still insist on choosing me as your mentor, I won’t refuse again.”
Anastasia beamed. “Great! You can’t go back on your word!”
“Since I’ve said it, I naturally won’t,” Bruno said with an amused chuckle. “But isn’t your assessment at the Global Harmony Medical Institute coming up soon?”
“In four days,” Anastasia replied.
Bruno had high hopes for her. “I’m sure you’ll pass. But you can’t be careless. Make sure you review thoroughly over the next few days.”
Anastasia nodded, showing that she understood.
After leaving the Austin’s, Anastasia took her cousin shopping to buy her some new clothes.
As for other daily necessities, she didn’t have to worry. She had already arranged for everything to be prepared when she set up the house.
“Anastasia, isn’t this enough? I can’t wear this many clothes,” Juliet said, hastily stopping Anastasia as she saw the clerk bagging up numerous items.
Anastasia glanced at the pile and nodded. “Alright, this should do for now. We can buy more when the weather gets warmer.”
Juliet felt a mix of embarrassment and sweetness in her heart. Anastasia was so good to her.
With so many bags, they obviously couldn’t carry everything back themselves. They left their address at the store for delivery.
Once they were done shopping,
Anastasia was ready to leave with her cousin. She was chatting with Julier as they walked out of the store and nearly bumped into someone.
“Excuse me…” she apologized quickly.
Suddenly, a surprised voice sounded in her ear. “It’s you?!”
Anastasia turned her head and froze for a second.
The man before her was flanked by a group of assistants. He wore a white suit, his features striking and handsome. His eyes, full of starlight and gentleness, were fixed on der in pleasant surprise.
…He looked familiar.
In a moment, Anastasia recognized him. Wasn’t this the “Mr. Calderon” she had
revived back in Fairhaven?
The last time they’d met, he had
been lying in bed, his face pale with illness. Now, he looked vibrant and gentle-eyed. The difference was so stark that she hadn’t recognized him at first.
She never expected to run into him here!
Anastasia smiled as well. “It’s you. Have you recovered completely?”
