Chapter 777
Bruno said, “Hold on, let me ask her first.”
When it came to the specifics of Mrs. West Sr.’s condition, Nelson, the family member, was likely less informed than Anastasia, the doctor who had actually examined her.
He wanted to hear about the patient’s situation firsthand.
When Anastasia received his call, she first detailed the old woman’s pulse and physical condition before asking, “Did the Wests call you, Teacher?”
“Yes, that Mr. West is quite anxious now,” Bruno replied, then added, puzzled, “With this condition, you don’t have any ideas at all?”
Anastasia chuckled. “It’s not that I don’t have a solution, but the patient’s family thought I was too young and didn’t trust me.”
Bruno frowned. “What happened?”
Anastasia didn’t cover for the Wests and recounted the situation exactly as it had occurred.
Bruno was immediately incensed.
When he called Nelson back, he said, “Mr. West, the student I sent you may be young, but her skills are genuine. Since she said it’s untreatable, then it is most likely untreatable. Please find someone else!”
Nelson was stunned. “Mr. Austin Sr….”
Bruno had already hung up.
He wasn’t lying. If Anastasia’s diagnosis was correct, then he truly didn’t have any immediate ideas.
However, he knew Mrs. West Sr. personally and wouldn’t actually abandon her. He would go see her himself when he returned, as a fresh perspective might reveal something new. But that would have to wait.
For now, he wanted to stand up for Anastasia, who had been wronged.
On the other end, Nelson understood that Bruno was furious and was filled with regret.
When Cheryl heard Bruno’s response, she was also shocked. “What? Mr. Austin Sr. says he can’t help either? What do we do now?!”
“It’s not that he can’t help, he hasn’t even seen her in person! We’ve offended him!” Cheryl was now filled with remorse as well.
As the two of them worried, Shirley walked over and couldn’t help but say, “Didn’t Anastasia say she had a way? Why don’t we ask her to come back and try…”
“No!” Cheryl immediately and firmly objected. “What solution could she possibly have? It’s all lies! Didn’t you hear what Queena said? Anastasia is unskilled and has no real ability!”
Shirley frowned.
She had her doubts about Queena’s words.
She had spent time in Fairhaven and interacted with Anastasia, and she knew that the word “unskilled” didnt apply to her at all. When Penelope had deliberately provoked her into a contest of memorizing medical texts, hadn’t she lost?
Queena was Penelope’s sister, wasn’t she?
During her time in Fairhaven, she had learned a little about the Sterling family. She knew Anastasia’s mother had passed away long ago, leaving her as the only daughter while the current mistress of the family was Penelope and Queena’s mother-a woman who had been Anastasia’s mother’s best friend…
Shirley wrinkled her nose in disgust, her opinion of Nora and her daughters souring.
What kind of person marries her best friend’s husband after she dies? Was he the only man in the world?
Coupled with what she knew about Penelope, Shirley remained skeptical of Queena and didn’t fully believe her words.
Walking into the room and seeing
her grandmother’s listless
expression, Shirley’s heart ached. She turned around and, without telling her father or aunt, quietly got Anastasia’s leftover prescription and massage instructions from a maid.
